I cant thank Him enough for his attention to students, the meaningful content and how he helped me change the course of my life trajectory. Im forever grateful to him. I took a couple classes from Professor Mortensen several years ago, the concepts are still with me around interpersonal communication, conflict resolution and miscommunication. TY!

Terrible class. Although the topic has potential to be great, he basically says the most obvious things in round-about ways. The class was boring, not important, and a total waste of my time. Not hard to get a good grade (although you will have no idea how you got such grade), but not worth it.

Easily the worst class I have ever taken at the UW. It's a bit ironic that this man teaches miscommunication. Textbook and exam questions are practically indecipherable and some of the information given (especially in the scientific realm) was blatantly inaccurate. Ridiculously bad.

I think that the course content is great, BUT Mortenson is a terrible writer and we use his text. The sentences are VERY long and repetitive and his tests are so poorly written that the questions are almost incomprehensible. Don't know how I did so well. To many personal details and don't talk to him or he'll use you for his research. Untrustworthy

Professor showed up to 60% of class. When he did show up, learning rarely happened. Grades not based in the realm of academia; rather, grades based on number of pages written, regardless of content. I have never been so infuriated in my life while taking this class. Psychology of communication... hardly.

Horrible class. You'll either love him or hate him, and I definitely hate him. He's notorious for random tangents, chalkboards filled end-to-end with randomly placed arrows and meaningless notations, and readings that will either confuse or bore you to tears. His books are dense, dry, and overly wordy. 90% of what he covers in class isn't on the exams. Avoid like the plague!!!!

Very interesting! He is a very entertaining professor and likes to keep things fair. If anything is unclear, he loves to see you in his office hours to help you out. His tests are difficult but not impossible...take his suggestions and you'll do just fine! I loved this class!
