The professor gave our class so much anxiety because she would nit pick everything . Attention to detail is how I would describe her course. I felt so much anxiety having this class and its just a COM100 class.

Comment:

Very stressful class, I started with a class of about 30 people, people dropped out of class each week, by the end of the semester we were only 7 people. I went to this class expecting to learn to learn better speaking, in the end all I learned was how to create better slideshows, which has been a valuable learning, but learned nothing speech wise.

This class was easy and if you can't pass drop out of college. Some interesting stuff and was clear with lectures, was funny too. didn't use the text so don't buy one! 2 tests a final all were easy! Speeches were work but who likes speeches? Good class, had to take. Lots students liked her so I took her and didn't mind and recommend.

You wont pass anyway. She seems like good at the first time but when you see first test, you understand that you will not pass this class. She gives you few words definations but on exam she just want you to write book long definitions. And she likes to yell people.

She is a great! As long as you show up and do the work, you will get an "A". She teaches you the required material for the test and class and also teaches things you can use in your life and can add to your resume. She gives a 95 on presentation as the highest, but the tests round out the grade, so you can possible get a 100 in the class.

She won't teach you the required material to pass her exams - and then puts on an entire brigade when the class fails. She lets people walk all over her and doesnt provide classroom structure etiquette . If you can avoid taking her you'd have avoided wasting money and time. Even for a 101 class - she's a joke as a professor.

She seems to come off as an easy going professor but avoid at all costs. You WILL NOT get an A. She even says that in the beginning. She is very bias on most of the topics you will be speaking about. She also is a hardcore feminist (guys watch out). She talks about her personal life more than teaching the subject. Avoid taking her at all cost

Ridiculously tough grader. Extremely hard tests that have materials she doesn't cover thoroughly. Talks more than she teaches. Tries to tell you about things that have nothing to do with the course. Can be rude to her students and is not clear in instructions. Take someone else if you can.

She talks about her personal life way too much. She can start a class with 40 minutes of just her relationship or family problems. She tries to insert religion, which doesn't belong in a communication class. Her tests aren't easy as well, no partial credit at all, so if you don't know it to the point, have fun. Don't skip class twice or you fail.

Talks about personal life A LOT but at least she ends class early most of the time. However, she loads on work material last minute to make up for all of the time she didn't teach us anything. Oh, and expect to learn more about religion than communication. She's a nice person but a very disorganized teacher.

I recommend taking her class if you like professors that are energetic and like to get students involved with their lectures. Show up to class, take notes and follow her outlines for your speech and there is no way that you should fail. Just as any other class you get out what you put into it.

She is very fun and alive during her classes. She is one professor who is straight to the point with her tests and quizzes. She starts grading speeches automatically at a 95 and deducts from there because there is always room for improvement. She is a very helpful professor, and she expects the best from all her students.

Professor M is straight forward. Take notes and review all your notes. She is on point with everything. "Hands down!" Her class is very interesting. I totally recommend her class. She's a great professor!

Her test are extremely easy and she gives extra credit. I got a 105 on the first test and 95 or higher on the rest. It is almost impossible to fail the test. She is always offering extra credit, only thing is you must work hard on your speeches!

Sweet personality, interesting & funny; very enjoyable class with her BUT...will talk a little too much about her personal life; come presentation time can be a little rude w/ respect to calling you out in the middle of your presentation; stress is high at that point AND Prof. Melvin please refrain from sarcastic faces during presentations.

Easy A.. studying for her tests are really easy. make sure u do your speech right or she will interrupt you and tell you what you did wrong. i didnt get anything lower than a 95 in her test.She's really cool just dont get on her bad side. One of the best classes I took! I went into this class thinking I was going to hate it but Melvin made the class fun and interesting! Too bad she isn't teaching at Bergen any longer, since she landed another job. Bergen will miss her and if you didn't have her yet, good luck finding a better speech professor!
