You get what you earn in Parker's class. He's a very intelligent albeit scary man, but it's a class that you learn something worthwhile in and shouldn't take merely to fulfill a requirement. To improve at writing and simultaneously feel like you've made an accomplishment by surviving his class, go for it!

I took a summer course. The class was very demanding, but it's doable if you really apply yourself, pay attention to everything he says in class, and read everything over extremely carefully. Details are everything, and he's a very tough grader. It takes a lot of focus and dedication, and you have to adhere to his particular style of writing.

Don is a tough grader. He will tell you one thing in class in regards to your assignment, and then mark you wrong for doing it that way, saying he said to do it another way. You HAVE to read and analyze the assignments, or you will not pass the quizzes. You also wont know your grade until the end of the semester. Pretty sure he doesnt even know.

Parker is awful. I got a 99% in English 101 and was on Honor Roll every semester since middle school until this class. I have never had a teacher who degrades students like he does. Constantly pushes his political and anti-religious agenda. You can read the material 100 times, but if you interpret something different than he, you fail. BEWARE.

He degraded the whole class by reading back the negative comments he wrote on each of our papers to the whole entire class. My essays were covered and I mean covered in red ink just because he picks apart every single piece of your paper. We even said "Bless you" when someone sneezed and he criticized us for that as well by asking why we say that.

He didn't hand me back any of my work for 9 weeks. On week 9 he gave it all to me and I was obviously failing as I had no chance of learning from my mistakes for 9 weeks straight. He belittles his students and pushes his political agenda in class more than the actual lesson. I am requesting a full refund as he did not teach me what I paid for.

We submitted poems, he removed our names and made us all analyze other students poems. He asked me to analyze the first poem which happened to be mine... I broke it down and told him exactly what it meant and he told me I was wrong "would the writer like to comment on this?" and I raised my hand. Says he wont give higher than a C. Awesome.

This is the hardest teacher I've taken so far. You have to be in class every day and be on time!!! Even though all of my papers look like roadmaps I passed his class. You really have to put yourself to it if you want topass. I would not recommend taking him for mandatory credit.

Had him for Poetry, and he is no joke. Professor Parker makes you work for your grade, but it's all worth it in the end when you see the progress you made since the start of the semester (if you apply yourself). Poems aren't graded, you just get credit for turning them in on time. Pop quizzes can kill your grade, so study! Can be harsh at times.

of course it's college and it's suppose to be difficult but should not be impossible. He was very condescending arrogant and had a better than all attitude. Any opinion other than his own is wrong. English is supposed to be a class of open interpretation!

Yes! he's tough but this is college! Be on time, follow directions, pay attention and DO your assignments! He can come off as condescending, but I do not know how many times he offered to help people or to get them a book (IT IS REQUIRED) and they still did not reach out. I would take him again. He makes you work for your grade, No freebies!

Prof. Parker likes things a specific way. If you aren't a good writer or at least don't want to become a good writer, don't take this class as he is not an easy grader. Also he hates cell phones and technology.

Professor Parker is a genuinely tough, difficult professor. If you go into his class thinking you will get an A,you will not. Dozens of other people have noted his essays/quizzes very hard here's whats lost though. If you GENUINELY pay attention and talk with him in class he REALLY appreciates it. Got a D on every paper still passed b/c class partic

Professor Parker is one of the toughest college professors I have dealt with. Often cynical and moody, he's very difficult to get along with and spends most of the class putting his students down or going on rants about things that are wrong with today's world. Be prepared to fail the first essay he assigns to your class.

I don't think he's that bad. Sure, his quizzes can be tough or analytical, but if you research the poem like you have to, there isn't much of a problem. He has a cynical sense of humor, and I rather enjoy his old-fashioned rants. He might be intimidating, but I find staying after class or "trying" to participate helps. I'd take him again, sure.

To begin, Professor Parker's sense of humor is complex and often difficult to understand, however, he does have one. Despite a somewhat cynical view of the world, Professor Parker is a Professor one can truly admire. His efforts are in getting students to think for themselves and develop strong arguments. I would take his class again.

Where to begin? The guy insults the collective intelligence of the class at every opportunity. His strict grading policy will ensure that you do not get higher than a B- if it doesn't drive you out of the class first. If you absolutely must take him, get a summer class- taking him over the spring or fall semester will drive you crazy.

He is the worst teacher I have ever had. He is rude and unethical. Every class he puts down religion, marriage, our generation, music(any kind), and even funerals. On top of that he grades papers so harshly. He treats everyone as though they should be English majors. He WILL publicly humiliate you. He should have been fired years ago. Avoid him.

Assigns a "short" story to read as homework after every class, then gives a difficult quiz on that story in the next class, where he lectures us on the story. Constantly reads too far into the stories and sees things that arent there, and when you do give your thoughts, theyre always wrong and his is always right. Avoid at all costs
