Extremely unorganized - we barely stuck to the syllabus. Not very clear about assignments. Very abstract and makes you think about things in a completely different way.

I really like Morton. I had him for another class and I used to stress out doing his work until I realized that as long as he likes your writing style, you should be good. I was much more relaxed in this class and still managed an A. If you like classroom discussions, take a class with him.

Professor Morton is the nicest man ever. legit, I want him to be my uncle. Also, his lectures are extremely engaging and interesting (though sometimes the material can be a bit abstract and thus confusing)

Amazing teacher. Can relate the most abstruse theory to the real world. Very very inspiring.

Morton is an amazing professor. His lectures keep an open-mind & are very intriguing. I took his Prison Industrial Complex class & loved it! We had 3 short (2pg) papers focused on any class reading & 1 final research paper (12pgs). You should definitely take it! GREAT CLASS!

Comment:
Morton obviously knows what he is talking about, but is hard on his students. Wicked hard grader. For a 200 level class, the course material is WAY too challenging. We read things that I would expect in a graduate class. You almost never go over the assigned reading though and he makes you read thing out loud, which is more annoying than it sounds.

Professor Morton relates social theory to your life. Sometimes books and people can seem far off, yet he shows you why these things are important. Basically, he teaches activism which is important and greatly under valued.

Comment:
obviously a smart guy, can be funny. thought provoking class discussions. 305 is the postmodernist/marxist class, so lots of philosophy reading and challenging material (although not too much length-wise). Kind of tough grader, and the material can be hard to wrap your head around, but worth it if you're a major

Comment:
Very hard reading and level of discussion. He openly tells you he's a hard core Marxist, and he spent the entire semester cutting down other theories. But it was interesting to hear an alternative view. Many students lashed out at him in my class, but I'm not sure why. Even if you hate him, you should learn to appreciate why.

I wanted to like him but he is such a tough grader and I started getting pissed off the second time I had him because I realize ALL HE DOES is relate everything to Marxist theory. We never went over the literature we read for the class.

Don Morton is a genius in Marxist, queer, and cyber theory. Tough as nails, but an absolutely perfect scholar in and outside of the classroom.
