the man seems nice, however he is the one professor at this school where i question his methods. 50 minute class goes as follows: spends the first 25 re-explaining the new material from the previous class, spends the next 25 frantically trying to cover the new material -_- the cycle feeds off itself to create an incredibly boring class.

Always willing to delve in deep into any subject related or not. Always accessible outside of class and willing to review any topic until the student has full comprehension.

Very helpful outside of the classroom, will take time out of his day to make sure you understand everything completely. As long as you reach out to him, he will go out of his way to help you.

Fons is the worst professor I've ever had. He is extremely self-absorbed. He's great at taking 2 hours to explain a simple concept. One time I left lab, got chinese, ate, came back, and he was still on the same problem. If you miss a single step, you miss the whole problem - you must write out even simple additions. You will leave late every week.

I had Fons for both PHY212 Lecture and lab. He goes on and on about trivial things. He doesn't realize that everyone already knows calculus. I feel that the material is pretty dumbed down, as all the textbook problems are harder. However, this makes the quizzes and exams easy to pass, JUST SHOW YOUR WORK AND DONT SKIP STEPS. ABSOLUTELY crucial

Had him for lab. The lectures he would give are unnecessarily long due to excessive repeating. The lab reports are graded by what he "feels" they are worth. His feedback is either a comment or a deduction, but you don't know because they are both in the same color pen with no point deduction next to it so you have to ask for clarification.

Likes to beat dead horses during lectures, is usually behind the material required (and therefore covered) in lad by a couple weeks

-Had him for Lab. -The lectures he gives are unnecessarily long. Detailed, but he is excesively repetitive. -Quiz material and grading fine. -With lab reports, he provides little to no guidelines on how he expects the information to be formatted, yet he deducts points for formatting. I would try to get someone else for lab. No gets above a B.

Worst professor I have ever had. I was playing catch up to my lab all semester because Fons went so slow. He taught Calc-based physics like we couldnt do basic algebra. This is college, and Calc 1 is a prerequisite!!! Midway through the semester I am finding myself 6 chapters behind all other classes. Awful. Do not take, he will kill your brain.

Very good teacher. Thorough in explaining the course information. Only downside is he sometimes spends too much time explaining concepts that should already be known. All in all a great professor, will definitely take another class with him.

The Fons is a cool guy. yea, it might take him a few 'uhh' seconds to 'uhh' get to the point, but he knows his sh*t. He doesn't assign any HW or CW so the 3 tests are your only lecture grades which is kindof scary but if you work though half of the textbook-problems he suggests in the syllabus, you'll do great on the tests.

Professor Fons was an excellent Physics professor. He helped break down the concepts where I could understand them. And he was very consistent. :-)

Prof. Fons made this class very fun and interesting. I was not a fan of science before taking this class, but I found this class kept my interest. I would take him again.

Fons is a great teacher if you're looking for an easily passable class - he's pretty laid back, goofy even. Doesn't use the textbook at ALL, so take detailed notes. If you ask questions in class, be prepared for a 20 minute long response. Easy on the eyes, which helped peak interest!

Incredibly boring. I mean, it puts people to sleep. I think some people have just stopped asking questions because they'll never get a straight answer. But he's a nice guy and his class isn't really hard. Take notes on everything though, very important.

His exams are easy, but his lectures are completely pointless. I learned mostly from the lab practice problems. I would recommend taking Barbour. He doesnt follow the textbook, and is not very clear. His reviews are 5 mins and barley go over any exams. he also is very strict on units and organization of work.
