His lectures focus just on the surface level of topics but the rest depends on you. You have to study in detail to score high on exams. His lectures are kinda boring and I'm not motivated at all

I stumbled upon this by accident. I took Eric's class back in 2000. I am now a Clinical Psychologist & work for the Department of Defense. I loved Eric's classes & learned a lot. I continue to apply not just the content, but the curiosity that was encouraged. Eric is approachable, both during the class & after. Take advantage of his knowledge

I thoroughly enjoyed Eric's class every day. I found his lectures interesting and funny - never dry. He is a great guy - particularly if you show interest in the subject matter. But be warned that the exams can be quite tricky. You must study hard for them. He will always say what exact things will be on the exam - so come to class!

Comment:

Cool guy, cool subject, but honestly a pretty horrible class. Tests took an enormous amount of time to finish (always came in late to my next class). He was very unclear about what we were supposed to know, and it took hours and hours of study to push all the info into your brain. Made a very stressful semester that much more stressful.

Comment:

Behavioral Neuro was a really good class. I learned a great deal and Eric is so incredibly knowledgeable in this field. This was my second class with him and I intend on taking as many as I can with him. His weekly exams are not too difficult, as he usually tells you what to expect on it, and it is mostly on the big picture stuff from the chapter.

BMB: easy and amazing class. Really wanted me to get into Nuero Science and tack that extra work load onto my major. His tests were pretty easy... i relied heavily on textbook and notes. He is currently working on his own book for the BMB class. He is approachable and funny as well. Pretty good teacher in my book.

This was my first class with Eric, and while he is very nice, he definitely gives off an air of superiority while at the same time also seeming very unapproachable. I did not like that the class was seminar-based, and felt that I did not learn as well as I could've. Overall, though, the class was pretty interesting and Eric is a good professor.

this class is a different world from brain, mind and behavior. The class is difficult, but eric's skills as a lecturer, teacher, and neuroscientist really shine in a smaller, more challenging setting.

I really did not care for this class. The only reason that I did as well as I did was because my group did a really good job at KidsJudge. The tests were awful even though I attended every class and read the book. He was difficult to meet with, and when I did meet with him he always had an air of superiority about him.

Eric is entertaining in class. He explains concepts usually through quick discussion groups with your neighbors. Very little homework besides several outside readings and reading the book. His tests are fair and essays cover the conceptual aspects and theories, especially things related to the videos we watch. Interesting class overall.

Eric is a great lecturer but watch out for his tests. Tests cover book, lecture, in-class videos; they require hours and hours of studying. He grades on a curve and he does a great job of expanding on topics... it's obvious he's one of the most intelligent people you'll ever meet. Take Eric's class if you want a challenge.

this class is a bad joke and a waste of your time. this is a subject i find fascinating, but which wiertelak managed to make incredibly boring. lots of pointless movies. i took it pass/fail, didn't read a thing, never studied or came to class, and got a b-minus. wiertelak likes to harrass and badger people when they volunteer answers!--why? avoid.

Eric is one of my all time favorite professors. He's just one of the smartest, nicest people you will ever meet and has a completely approachable and engaging teaching style. I love that I see him at the neuroscience meeting every year, and he is always so enthusiastic and interested!
