Comment:

Very willing to help and wants to see students do well. Lectures are long and boring but extra information is interesting. Easy grader and in some ways way too nice. Definitely knows his stuff though, and can learn a lot from him.

blackboard page is an absolute mess. Exam sections are completely mix-matched (ie: sec 3 should be ch 8,9,10 he has ch 8 and 9 under sec 3 and 10 and 11 under sec 4, while sec 4 should be 11, 13 and 14 and on and on..) Quiz solutions contain wrong answers and skipped questions throwing off his numbering. He doesnt know how to reply to an email-ever

Comment:

He gives tons of material for studying and lets you bring a cheat sheet in for the test. There are extra credit quizzes that are actually harder than the test so take the quiz a few times to make sure you understand the material. Also he is very quick to answer questions by text.

Read the material and take the quizzes at the end of the chapter, similar questions on exam. You can take cheat sheet in exams with you. IF you ask a question, don't expect a response. He rather you "Text" him than email.

Despite this being a distance learning course, this professor was very attentive and helpful and gave extra credit opportunities. He is also just a nice guy. I am NOT a math whiz and made an A.

Comment:

Lazy Professor. This was the worst online course I have ever taken. We were basically given a book and test dates. When I reached out to him for some guidance on how to study he was short and argumentative. He was also slow to respond, even though he requests that students reach him via text. I really needed this class for my career choice.

Took online course. 5 tests, and 1 project. Made an A. Read the chapters, & you're allowed 1 pg of notes for the tests so that helps a lot! Also gives extra credit quizzes on chapters (can take quizzes multiple times) & those help your grade & w/tests. The project is also easy. I was confused at first, but ask to look at an example & it'll help.

He enjoys to talk about himself a lot and thinks that benifits us when in reality, he lives in a whole differnt world then a modern acc student trying to tak t class to make money and learn biz. He is entertaining, and boring at the same time. He is flexiable bt thinks things are easy when they aren't. Not for your avg teenager. Notes do help.

For DL class: Super easy to contact (in fact, encourages phone calls!) and very flexible with deadlines as long as you talk to him about it and actually finish all the work. Exams straight from the textbook. I suggest you ask him to let you look at previous student's semester projects, as his instructions don't quite explain what he's looking for.

Took the online class. The syllabus he provided was great because it clearly specified what was going to be on the test. The tests were easy to follow and the material on the tests was exactly in sync with the material in the book. Professor Baird has put together a GREAT online statistics class. I highly recommend it!

Comment:

Great professor, very nice guy. He lectures from powerpoint but then works a lot of examples with the class. Lots of extra credit. Homework is not a grade but it helps to do it. You got to use Excel and make one page of notes for exams.

The class was moderately difficult with high use of the textbook. Classes consist of reading and taking online tests. Stock project was unclear. Student help from teacher was very minimal, I would have to text or call repeatively to get a response and god forbide I use e-mail I would never get a response.

Comment:

Distance Learning during summer of 2010. Great class to knock out the Bus. Admin Major requirement. 5 exams are the only grade, not hard if you do the homework which isn't turned it. Pretty easy with about 4-5 hours of work per week.

I took the online course. Fred was the instructor but was a non-factor as communication with students was minimal. Class consisted of reading the chapters, working the suggested problems, and taking the exams at the test center. Plus 3 online quizzes. OK if you are self-motivated and can learn a rather difficult subject on your own.
