Expect to read a lot and to have group discussions. She is also a harsh grader so try to make your first pages look as best as they can because she often says she doesn't have time to read through every detail in a paper. Truly an amazing professors that cares for every student.

Loved this professor. She definitely saw potential that i clearly couldn't see in myself. Though the essays were a bit difficult, as long as you read the required text and don't make simple grammatical errors, you will do just fine. ANSWER THE QUESTION EXACTLY, don't beat around the bush or go off topic, you will get docked points! Spring 2016

You have to really analyze your papers. Hit every detail and explain it well. No grammatical errors. Its a tough class but worth your time to learn. She is an awesome Professor and really cares about your writing skills. I took her during the summer and she was great! Absorb everything she tells you and you'll see your progression with each essay.

I took professor Pina a few years back. At the time my husband and I were expecting our daughter. Professor Pina gave me motivation to be a better student. She really cares for all her students. In the beginning I had a D and managed to finish with a B. Thank you professor Pina. I did it I got in to the nursing program and I'll be graduating soon.

Professor Pina is so down to earth. She won't trouble you with busy work and knows how to engage the whole classroom with her humor and passion. Her assignments are fun and creative, but often you have to read out and share these with the class. Feedback is only clarified if you ask her. Professor Pina is an excellent instructor. She will make you laugh numerous times in class and her lectures are very clear and easy to understand. She does expect excellence and her grading can be harsh, but she does give feedback and explains exactly how you can improve your writing. SHE IS HILARIOUS! Haven't left a lecture once without laughing.

Ms. Pina was extremely helpful. She offered extra credit and frequently told success stories and reminded me that I can do/be anyone/anything I want to be. We read some great stories and this class will definitely prepare you for 1A. I wouldn't say she's easy...but do the work and take advantage of the tutors in lab and you'll do fine!

Professor Pina is the definition of an excellent professor. She may seem to be tedious at first, but she's a sweet woman once you get to know her. A lot of essays and quizzes, plus the final. this is by far the worst teacher in the world. not only did i learn nothing, but the work load is ridiculous. i did all her work and still didnt pass. i worked my ass off and she just didn't like me talking back to her. dont take her. i think only four people passed her class.

Pina, so much to say about her She is such a beautiful woman inside and out. I had her Ujima courses at PCC. She doesn't grade hard. U get what you deserve. U but in the hard work u get the nice grade. I recommend this class if u want 2 learn. True she does have favs tho. I wish I didnt leave on bad terms. Nice tho (when she isnt mad @ WHOLE CLASS)

Prof. Pina is seriously an amazing english professor. She teaches at USC so the work you do in class will be a lot more difficult than what you're used to. If you aren't willing to work hard, do not take her. Otherwise, she comes off as intimidating, but is so much fun, sassy, and really nice. Prepare to do a lot of writing. Love her! got an A.
