Comment:

Taking Gail's MHA course really inspired me to work harder, professionally and personally. I feel Gail pushes you to pull the best you have out of yourself and encourages personal growth. Not only does she teach you material at a higher educational level, almost everything you learn, you will do hands-on. She prepares you to be the best you can be.

You must refer to her as Gail, nothing else. Every class we must arrange our desks in a circle, put out our name tags (yes, she made us make name tags) and for the first 3 classes you play name games. You don't learn much at all from the class, and if you pass the midterm you don't have to take the final. But this class is honestly kindergarden.

Gail will challenge you. You need to attend class daily. You must listen to the instructions carefully, often she will give them just before class ends when few students are paying attention. There is a lesson to the madness. It does pay off. Follow the assignment instructions exactly as she has them written. Listen to her well and take notes.

DO NOT BUY ANY BOOKS! SHE DOES NOT USE THEM! She will photocopy what you need! Gail means well, but needs to retire. She is using material from 1970. Come ON! It's outdated to the max! She gives WAY too many assignments in short periods of time! You can get an A, but never miss class, participate, and be prompt with work. GAIL IS UNORGANIZED

I love Gail, she is one of my favorite instructors. She has always been helpful and approachable. Yes you will have alot of work to do. The proposal scared me, i did the work in steps and got an A. Dont overwhelm yourself, take every assignment as it comes and you will do fine. SHOW UP FOR CLASS & PARTICIPATE MHA 2406 is not that hard

Incredibly easy 'A'. If you show up, participate, and do most of the homework (which is optional depending on what grade you want) you will, undoubtedly, have success. She gives you every opportunity to ace her class, and, although she is a little quirky, she is generally helpful and mindful of how busy most people are, and plans around it.

After reading all the comments, its amazing to see that Gail has not changed. she does play favorits between students. she is not approachable by any means. she gives dirty looks, holds grudges and over all not very nice person. if you do not break down crying, or have a break through, she will not be pleased. useless classes.

Gail knows what it takes to be an effective counselor. It isnt easy, there is a science to it and she will not short cut your education. She is not affraid to ask you to take a look at your habits, perceptions, and motives. Do not take her if you think you have no room for growth or change. This woman does not play.

I found this program to be irrelevant to the professional field of social work. My supervisor at my internship agreed. I regret referring this program to family and friends. I just completed the MHA program. I was hired at my internship based on what I learned in the MHA program. I was also accepted at Oakland University School of Social Work base on my experience from OCC and MHA. The classes and gail are very demanding. That is the reason I learned so much. Thank you Gail.

Useless class using obsolete materials & book. In fact everything she teaches is obsolete. I used her techniques at my internship & got laughed at by the professional social workers there. She has never worked in the field & is clueless about the real world. Save yourself some time & go directly to OU or another school to get up to date techniques.
