Dr. Bird was great! I had him for many a class. I learned alot from him when I started in Tails (Jazzmen) and then when I moved up to Heads (Mellowmen). We had some incredible jazz tours with him. He had his demanding side for the better players and pushed them to get the most out of their education. I was sad to hear that he retired. Thanks, GB!

He's the strangest person. I get very good grades in all my classes, but this one; with all my hard studying I only managed a B. He expects you to love music like he does, and if you don't you're pretty much shot. When I asked him for help once he made me feel really stupid in front of the whole class. I was disappointed becaue I truly needed it.

not many tests, like five they're multiple choice, but there's also listening, which i did the night before and did decent on. no attendance, but don't sleep in class or he'll tell you to leave. pretty easy.

He was a lot of fun, would have enjoyed the class if I had more time this past semester and I didn't have to get up at 8:00AM. Don't fall asleep or let him catch you reading another book, he'll let you have it! For tests, you'll have to listen to music and name the title and composer. bird is a nice guy, class gets really boring on some days when you talk about one thing for and hour and 45 min. but tests and quizzes are pretty easy, just make sure you listen to the music and you should get atleast a B.
