He's going to tell you exactly how he feels. He's also going to be nice about it. If your not a self motivated person he's probably not going to be able to help you become the best saxophone player you can be. Then again if your not self motivated you shouldn't be a musician anyway.

Dr. Young is an incredible guy. I'm the pianist in this year's Jazz band and I had no idea what I was getting into. I couldn't improv, and I couldn't read chords on the piano. Dr. Young was more than willing to help me every time I asked and I learned alot from his Jazz coarse. He will make you a better musician. Very kind. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Young is a very good professor, and even better advisor. He expects a lot from you but will never yell at you when he's upset with you. If you have any problems with any of your courses (not just music) Dr. Young is very helpful in making sure you have what you need to graduate, and graduate on time.

i don't know how i got the position of piano in jazz band, but he saved my butt in that ensemble ... for two years!! super nice guy, and if you come unprepared you feel extremely guilty about it. will push you to do your best, but doesn't expect miracles f

He is a cool guy, extremely cool. He is the epitome of coolness, yeah. I would even say he is Trigonomically cool..whatever that means. Like he says in his own words, "I play the saxaphone, I get a real nice tone.

Very excellent professor. Incredible musician with a n amazing ear. Very demanding, but nice. Maybe too nice at times. It would be nice to have someone yell if you're screwing up, but he tends to kill you with kindness. Will kick your butt, make no mistake, he just tends to be nice about it.
