In all 4 years of college he is the best prof I've ever had and the only one I remember the name of. I've had him for 2 SOC classes and SOC isn't even my major. I took it just to be in his classes. He is the best ever.

Your main grade comes from weekly quizzes over the reading, so as long as you actually read, you'll do fine. There are a few one-page papers due at the end of the semester. The material itself is depressing as hell, but it's an interesting class nonetheless.

Lectures are interesting and engaging. Coming to class is a must and I recommend doing the reading if you want to do well on tests. Don't be intimidated by the essay portion on the tests-just make sure you understand the major points. Mr. Brock loves helping students so don't be afraid to visit him during office hours. One of MSU's best professors!

I've taken quite a few classes from him and I love him. He's very interesting, the tests are kinda hard because you're not sure how to study for them but its all worth it. He's the reason I picked SOC as my minor. I wish I had him forever!

Great teacher. Branches off of SOC 152 and if you liked that class you'll like this one. Come to class and take notes though because there is no textbook, it's all lecture! But it's fun!

His lectures where interesting but kind of hard to follow. You arent sure what to write down. Tests are kind of hard, they are mostly over lecture notes and some information from the book. I recommend a different teacher if you dont want to work.

I did not enjoy this class very much. Dr. Brock is a likeable guy, but I thought his tests covered random things he decided to say in class. I did not like his teaching style - he went all over the place and while he did tell interesting stories/facts, you never knew if you needed to write something down or not. I would have taken someone else.

This class is so interesting and so easy. There are quizzes each week and you must read the book to know the information on the quizzes, but you learn so much from the text! Dr. Brock is so nice and very helpful. This is by far, the most interesting class I have taken so far.

Notes are very unclear. And he jumps all over the place when he lectures. Repeats himself a lot. Tests are hard. You need to read your book. Although he never references to the book during lecture half the test questions come from there. I would strongly consider not taking this class.

Dr. Brock's notes are very unclear, his exams are over his lectures and parts of the book that he chooses to use in his class lecture. He NEVER refers to the text at all if you didn't have to read it for the test you wouldn't even need the book at all. Only take if it is your last resort. VERY HARD!!!

I love this class! as long as you actually pay attention and take notes, you'll be fine. Once I almost forgot we had a test, so I looked over my lecture notes and got an A.

He is a really nice guy but the class was kind of boring and I think he just makes up half of the stuff he says. There isnt really a way to study for his tests. If you can take someone else I would prolly do it but if you get stuck with him it isnt that bad.

Dr. Brock's notes and lecture are a little hard to follow sometimes but overall he is a good professor. He is a likeable kind of guy so you sort of look past the poor lecturing structure. He is very knowledgeable though and is willing to take time to explain things until they are clear. Tests are not to hard if you do the reading and review.
