Comment:
Prof. Richardson was a bit soft spoken and wrote everything in cursive. The class was a little dull, but he did his best to teach us calc3. He does good exam reviews before the exams; the exams and quizzes are pretty fair. He doesnt collect the homework but it helps a lot if you do it.

I started out not liking him but he grew on me. Lectures: dull but thorough. Tests: very similar to review sessions, but I'd have appreciated a bit more partial credit. Homework: not mandatory but I'd recommend doing it anyway. He's a good guy, very knowledgeable, and definitely cares about his students. He's surprisingly funny, too.

Lecture are extremely boring and hardly worth going to class for. It was better for me to spend my time learning from the textbook then from him. The only grades are tests, quizzes (worth a small percentage), and the final. He does grade quizzes pretty fair, however there is absolutely no partial credit on tests. Take someone else.

His lectures are boring at times but he is extremely understanding and wants you to do the best that you can. Overall a very solid professor who will teach you everything you need to know in his lectures. I had him for calc 2 and the class average ended up being around 70% with no A's so he curved the class by a very generous amount at the end

He doesn't take attendance but GO TO CLASS!!! He covers everything on the tests in class and doesn't really bother lining it up with the book. Clueless about the HW too. Explains everything very thoroughly and answers any questions but likes to go off on tangents while lecturing. Tests HEAVILY follow review sessions given in classes before test.

Gary is a really good professor. He goes over all the concepts and then solves the examples for it. Gives a good test review before class and the exams are pretty much the same. Fair grader and if you think he didnt grade you properly go talk to him and he will increase your grade. He is slow but teaches well.

Gary was an amazing Calc 2 professor. He taught CONCEPT first then practiced problems afterwards. Attendance doesn't matter unless you cant teach this to yourself. Not gonna lie I almost fell asleep a couple times cause hes boring at times. Gary is like that grandpa that tells stories and has so much experience only thing is hes a mathematician.

He is a pretty good professor. He writes in cursive, so you have to be able to read that if you take him. He's also very soft spoken, so sit up front. He goes over many theories and is serious about going over examples you'll see in the future. The concepts are not easy. Work hard, pay attention, and practice concepts by doing homework. Good luck!

Professor Richardson is a great guy, lectures are a little boring but he's test are clear, will usually have a test review before the exam, he's also understanding if he made a test too hard for the class. Thought i was going to fail because i did so bad on the final but ended up passing!

Grades include 3 tests 20% each, hw 10% and final exam 30%. Lectures aren't very interesting but he occasionally will take a break to tell a joke/short story. Very fair grader in my opinion. Nice guy, definitely wants his students to succeed. Would recommend taking his class. Content can be tough but doing the hw & practice problems really help.

Prof Richardson is a very nice guy. His lectures are very boring and I had trouble paying attention. Tests are worth 90% and HW is 10% of the grade. The material is difficult and takes a lot of studying to learn. His tests are medium difficulty. I thought I was going to fail because I was so not prepared for the 3rd test but I still passed w/ a C!!

Very helpful. His reviews are AMAZING. If you come to class and TAKE NOTES, there's no reason to be completely lost and he answers questions. The material itself is difficult, but he helps out as much as he can. The only pitfall is that grades will not be on webcourses.

He explains hard material well. Although his writing is clear, it is in cursive, which some people are not used to. He did not collect homework, but those who completed the homework did better in class. He did not use webcourses. Overall, I would recommend him as a teacher.

He does a very good job with topology. Clear, thorough, and rigorous. When I took his class, the grade consisted entirely of two exams and a final, but the exams were reasonable and open-book, so you don't have to worry about memorizing every definition and theorem. If you're serious about mathematics, you should take him whenever possible.

If you're good at math and already have some knowledge of diff eq, you really don't need to go to class most times. You should go every now and then to find out test dates and where you are in the material. The homework is on Wiley+. Really smart, sometimes needs to dumb down his proofs for his mostly-engineering audience. Overall cool dude.

He's been teaching DE for decades so he knows how to pace the course and introduce concepts. Also the test is nearly the exact format as the review. However, be small cursive writing on a chalkboard and mumbles sometimes. Obscure variables like gamma, delta, and psi are introduced and are indistinguishable on the chalkboard.

I don't understand the low review here. Dr. Richardson's only drawback is that he is quite boring. Then again it was a two hour long class. But he explains everything crystal clear, he grades easily (does not collect homework or grade on attendance, you can just show up for the tests). And he always answers questions in class.

He was a great professor, he taught the math class like a mathematics class was supposed to be taught at a research university: theoretically. Sadly, after the first exam, all the engineers complained that he did too many proofs that he had to dumb down the second test. However, this was an interesting class and he did a great amount of theory.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand the low reviews here. Dr. Richardson is the best math professor I've ever had. He knows every detail of his subject and he teaches it perfectly clearly. You should take his classes every chance you get.

Comment:
Dr. Richardson is just about the best professor in the department. His lectures are fantastic--clear and without loss of rigor. Moreover, he taught far more material than is standard for undergraduate topology, which made the class all the more interesting and helpful. Tests were difficult, but open-book and curved. The moral: take his class.
