His US History class is a prime example of natural selection. Class started with about 45 people and ended with maybe high 20s. Painful class

I have never struggled more than I have in this class. Dr. Smith's class is only verbal lecture based and the only thing he uses the screen for is pictures. This makes it difficult to take notes as he goes entirely too fast and there is no powerpoint to follow along. His tests and quizzes require you to know literally everything and are impossible.

Definitely have to work for your grade but Dr. Smith is very passionate about history and makes the lectures seem like big epic stories. I found the class very interesting. Few tests (multiple choice and essay) and pop reading quizzes make up grade so be prepared. He will help you out if he sees that you have made progress each test.

Professor Smith was very helpful in office hours and passionate about the material. My issues with the class were that his quizzes/tests related completely to his lectures and not with the book he assigned us to read for homework. Also only having three tests and pop quizzes made it to where one test will make or break your grade in this class.

This class isn't too bad. You only have three tests and pop quizzes and those are the only grades you have. He is a good teacher and doesn't read directly off of the powerpoint so it makes the class bearable. You definitely need to go to class and do the readings or you will NOT do well.

Let's just say that there is a reason the rest of the History dept. refers to him as 'the devil downstairs'. Difficult man and even worse professor, takes joy in mocking his students. Unclear grading system, and class is pretty much just him yelling for an hour and a half. Good luck with this guy!

His classes are geared toward history majors like my self. His lectures are incredibly in depth, but you'll learn that you dont have to write down every word he says, just the stuff pretaining to the list of words he gives you at the start of class. Do your readings, talk to him if you need help and again, do your readings and youll get an A.

this guy is completely full of himself and shouldn't be because he is not that good at his job. preaches more than he teaches, but his message is self serving. don't take any classes with him and this opinion is coming from someone who got an A in his class so you know i'm telling the truth!

I am a history major, and I can easily tell you not to take this class unless you want to study your butt off for a B at best. You will learn a lot from this class, but it is SO much reading and work that unless you must take this class, dont! At least not with Smith. There are so many other teachers that give easy As for this class.

I have never met a man so full of himself. History is fun, exciting, and should make you critically think about issue, but not in this class. Made an A by regurgitating the text and learned nothing that my fantastic AP teacher has not already taught me. If you want an intellectually challanging class, look elsewhere...

If you don't like reading, don't take this class. you have to read the entire text. random pop quizzes, but he drops the lowest 3 grades so go to class. constant note taking w/ no sigh of relief time, av. of 3 pgs of notes per class. he gives you essay topics in advance but is a tough grader and multiple choice ?s r very tricky at times, no easy a

Not a good class to take if you are looking for an easy A. He talks too fast for you to write and his tests are things you never learned. The books are ridiculous and there is no way you can read 100 pages in a night. Dont take him. He is unfair and not worth your time.

Dr. Smith is a good professor but his class is very difficult. You will take a minimum of 3 to 4 pages of notes a class and have a ton of reading to do. He's very good at what he does, but if you're looking for an easy class, I definitely don't reccomend him.

The class can be very difficult if you cannot keep up with the readings. He gives 3 excused abscences, and then drops your grade for each one afterwards. Gets to know you outside of class and is much nicer in his office environment. Very knowledgeable about history in general, but doesn't always lecture very well. So take GOOD notes and READ!

Do NOT take this professor. You will be reading about 80 pages every two days out of the books, aside from taking 3 pages of notes if you try to get down what he is saying. His tests are very unfair and he grades your essays unfair as well. Difficult guy, hopefully he is gone soon.

He's a great guy. He makes time to meet with each student after the first test to get to know you. He knows his stuff, and class is interesting. Tests not too hard, but have essays and they can be tough.
