very hard to understand accent, no partial credit. 3 quizzes and 3 tests were the only grades for the semester.

Quite possibly the worst professor I've had at Auburn yet. Engineering is not easy by any means, but there is a difference between class difficulty and artificial difficulty because of a teacher. I had him for Linear Diff Eq and simply put, drop him if you get him. It's the difference between getting an A with any other teacher for failing all year

Dr. Hetzer definitely makes things harder than they need to be and only loosely follows the textbook. He allows you to use Maple on the tests, and has extra credit built into every graded assignment. If math comes naturally to you, his class will be a breeze. If not, get ready to go to tutoring and spend lots of time on the optional homework.

You need to go to class, ask questions, and do the homework to do well. His tests are hard, and his practice tests are even harder, which is why it's so important to work them and go when he works them out. His explanations aren't always clear, and he is difficult, but he offers lots of extra credit on exams, so it's definitely manageable.

I literally had no idea what was happening in lectures 9/10 times. Half the time I didn't know what he was saying or writing. On tests I just threw down anything I remember him writing. Probably only passed because he grades tests and quizzes for less than the points available

Tests are graded as 85/75 and quizzes graded as 30/25; 3 of each. He has a thick accent and his handwriting can be a bit difficult to read, but you can get through it. Homework is optional but make sure you do it, and then do it again before the test and you will be fine. Tests are fair and don't have too many surprises or tricks.

AVOID. He makes absolutely no sense during lectures, and when you try to speak to him outside of class about parts of the class you don't understand or ask questions about his grading it's like talking to a brick wall. If you do take him, youtube videos on differential equations will be your best friend.

Dr. Hetzer was not a great professor, he is hard to follow and the material is extremely difficult. He has done the material for 50+ years and doesn't fully explain it, I even had to hire a tutor to pass. That being said, he does build bonus into quizzes and tests, and tells you almost exactly what is on the test; just have to learn it on your own.

Dr. Hetzer is a fantastic teacher to have if you don't mind teaching yourself. He lectures the entire period most days and assigns but does not check homework. Tests are built in with bonus (out of 85 possible but taken for 75 points). He gives "pop quizzes" but always lets you know ahead of time (often let us choose the day). Would recommend.

He is an excellent professor to teach advanced courses of differential equations. Extremely nice as a person and very helpful in office hours. He may not be good for undergraduate courses but I think he is an excellent professor for advanced level graduate courses.

His lectures are cryptic the book he uses is next to useless. BUT. . . if you go to his office hours he is a lot more helpful and he gives you all the materials online that you need for the tests/final and gives you enough bonus that you will make a good grade if you try.

Dr. Hetzer is very difficult to learn from. His lectures lost me most of the time, and I eventually gave up on going to class. That being said, the class is still really easy if you are willing to put in the time teaching yourself. He lets you use Maple on every quiz and test, and that makes everything super easy. He also offers TONS of bonus.

he is the worst one i've ever seen.his writing is a puzzle.he teaches nothing, but when it comes to tests, asks questions he doesn't mention.he even said"i don't expect u to solve some questions".i'd have taken two classes with the time i spent to learn PDEs.i was in depression because of him.he is helpful, but much more harmful,STAY AWAY FROM HIM

I had to teach myself most of the material, but the tests were pretty straight forward. There was a TON of bonus built in, so you could get like 80% of the questions right and still get a 100 on the test. The final was the same way. He is much more helpful in person than in class.

Sometimes difficult to understand in class, but extremely helpful at office hours and willing to meet almost at any time. His tests reflect homework and reviews. Difficult tests but he is a very fair grader and gives a lot of bonus. He helps you as long as you show that you care and are really trying.

(and MATH 5200) He is actually a very good teacher. The thing to keep in mind is that he is more comprehensible for the upper level classes. He doesn't "dumb it down" enough to be extraordinarily clear when discussing calculus, but for actual math-major classes, he is exceptional.

Terrible. Doesnt really teach. All he does is talk about how you can solve the problems in maple. he says that people do bad in his course because they didnt do well in cal 2 or cal 3. People in my class have done well but they are good at teaching the material to themselves or have had to get tutors. Overall, BAD TEACHER
