Sometimes I don't understand what he wants and he does not understand me, but I am proud of the things I have created in his class. He is not for everyone, but if you take the class seriously, he can be really helpful and encouraging.

He is one of the sweetest professors at Pratt. First semester is mostly based on working with bristol board, but it gets interesting later on! He may get a bit awkward and moody and times, but really, I enjoyed taking his class. Best part is he gives 20 minute long breaks every class!:)

I hated this class the first semester, due to the repetitive cutting of bristol shapes that had to be done perfectly. However, he ended up being really supportive towards the end of the first semester, and in the second semester. He was very easy going, and kind, and gave us some interesting assignments. Great guy!

We spent most of first semester making bristol shapes and designing a geodesic dome. Second semester mostly building said dome that looks pretty cool. Then minimal wood shop and chair designing. Very laid back Friday class that you feel like you're wasting your time in. I wish we learned more 3D stuff but I also don't want to work friday afternoons

Our class spent the whole first semester cutting shapes bristol paper, never moving on to other areas of 3D, unlike every other teacher. We had the same assignment every week, hours and hours of extremely tedious cutting with an exacto knife. Hank does not allow room for creativity, only repetitive and useless busy work.

Hank is one of the worst teachers i ever had. If you want a class where you make bristol shapes for a whole semester and do nothing else relevent hes the guy for you. Hanks standars are not only unrealistic they also just do not make any sense. He should definatly not still be teaching.

Has ridiculously high standards, but if you're looking to get into Industrial Design, get used to it. ComD/Fine Arts majors may want to look elsewhere, if only to save their energy for something that they'll actually use when they graduate.

He had us working in the same medium for the entire 1st semester (Bristle board) and then asked us to make a fully functional chair for our final using materials we were not familiar with! He's very knowledgeable but limited and unopen. Also, his crits are ridiculous. He doesn't want your opinion or observations. He wants you to guess his.
