Hal is a fairly nice guy but his instructions are extremely vague and his exams are ridiculously hard. In class, he gets annoyed easily by students and dismissed us early after asking a vague question when no one in class had an answer. He basically said "he wasn't going to pull teeth to get an answer out of us" but no one knew WTF he was asking.

He assigns too many projects, and then never brings them up during class so you either forget about them or you don't know what to do on them. His tests are hard and his lectures are boring. If you have a choice, don't take hime, please. Good luck if you do.

First off: Don't take MRKT496 if you don't have to. The term is based on a group research paper that is not too difficult, but it comes with SO MUCH busy work. This class will have more homework than any of your other classes. The midterm is extremely difficult, but on the bright side there's no final. Hal is firm and talks down to you during class

Hal is a very challenging professor. When you can look around class and see three people listening, you know there's a problem. Not only does he fail to make his lectures interesting, he doesn't even try. Two hours of sitting in his class, twice a week, and you'll come out of it without knowing anything. Do well on the projects, you'll need it.

Comment:
Professor Koenig is unprofessional, hypocritical, and unorganized. He stresses quality work and grades down on simple errors, yet he has typos and grammar mistakes in his emails and tests. He doesn't tell you what to study and often goes off on tangents in lectures, then tests you on material not covered in class. Avoid this professor if you can.

This is by far the worst class I have ever taken. Hal is unorganized and does not care about the success of his students. He lectures on content not on the midtermsfinal. Class averages were mid 60's. In order to pass the class, one must read the textbook word for word. Do not study lecture notes.. not even worth going to class.

This is, by far, the most pointless business class that I have taken. Hal is the most unorganized professor ever. He is very unclear and doesn't teach you how to do things very well and it seems like you have 3 or 4 things due every class.

Extremely disorganized and doesn't contribute to his course at all. He spends the rambling about stories that are hard to pay attention to and then write one word. no slides or study materials. oh ad the "key words" are really just the headings of the chapters in the book. Read the book and avoid his class. thats the only way.

Hal Koenig is by far... the worst teacher I have ever had. Hal if you read this, please start putting notes online. Your lectures are impossible to pay attention to, you reiterate unimportant details 5x, then explain complex mathematics verbally without examples or guidance. Then give us ridiculously hard tests with impertinent useless information.

I took his online BA 396 course. I would go to his office hours to get help with the project and I did what he told me to do and then graded me down after I turned it in! He is unorganized and the midterms had useless information on it. The questions are either boringly easy or ridiculously difficult.

I had high hopes for this class as the other upper level business profs have been great. Most of the lecture is spent either explaining the simplest chart in the chapter or talking about his friend Mcalexander. Very little useful information from lecture is on the test but a lot of his pet peeve questions are. The textbook is also terrible

Hal is an awful teacher. he may be good at research, but teaching is not his thing. He doesn't understand that students have other obligations so he piles on projects/quizzes/exercises AND midterms without considering your other courses. INFO OVERLOAD! Tests are WAY too hard and unfair. It's a shame he is the only one that teaches this course.

The class is not extremely difficult, unless you do not put in the time and effort. I can't stress effort enough. He will answer any question with a very clear answer, but won't reveal an answer unless the question is first asked. Nice guy if you get to know him. Don't procrastinate... Seriously

Very passionate about market research - almost expects students to be just as passionate and know everything. The project will take over your life. Study as much as you want for the midterm, but don't expect a good grade. His grading is always a surprise. There's a lot of information to take in.

Hal is good at market research. what he is NOT good at is teaching market research. The 496 project info packet is 20 pages of minutia that will leave you clueless. Clarity and course structure are mystifying. His grading scheme is random with the check accounts. The memos and journals are extraneous crap.

One of the worst professors I've ever had. Not helpful at all, and very vague. My class average was 65%... I seriously wish someone else was teaching this class. Reading the book is helpful, but his personal opinions on the subject completely contradict the book in some cases. His tests reflect both, so god only knows how we're supposed to pass.
