Comment:

The class was incredibly unstructured and really suffered becasue of it. Beyond not really learning anything, there are no set due dates which means students are constantly worrying about what is due when. The lectures/discussion are mostly just piddling away time. The professor is really down to earth and provides apples every class.

Comment:

What a guy! His class is totally unstructured, but the content is super interesting. Prof. Schwarz might drive you crazy at times but he does it so you can pursue your own path and come up with more creative ideas and insights. It's definitely worth going to his office hours.

It's hard to know what he is exactly looking for, but he is still a really interesting character. Go to his office hours and he will be very helpful. The readings are really heavy, but are summarized during student presentations.

I did enjoy his class, although it was pretty disorganized and he tended to ramble a lot. Having received an A in his class, I asked him for a letter of recommendation and I was told that he could not do it because he did not know me. One of these professors in research institution that deal with students only because they have to. Disappointing.

Avoid at all costs. Incredibly inconsistent with guidelines and assignments. Class is disorganized and rambling. Easily my worst experience with a professor at Georgetown

Professor Schwarz is crazy. He is so disorganized that I hardly ever know when something is due and even if there is something due, I rarely know what to turn in because he comes up with assignments on the spot and gives no official guidelines. Classes can get boring but there are a few rare days when we will watch something interesting.

Marxism and Culture - Schwarz is probably the only professor at Gtown who still teaches like it's the 60's. He's super nice and flexible with assignment deadlines etc, but only because he wants students to produce their very best work... He wants you to have a revelation in his class, but only on your terms - guider, not a pusher. Excellent teacher

sporadic class, readings aren't really that necessary, 1 student presentation, 2 papers, one final paper. class can kind of drag on if students don't participate. readings are random. but overall, laid back class, not too heavy of a workload. talks of grade deflation tho

Prof. Schwarz is so flexible. The classroom really is about the students. He changes the syllabus to refelct everyone's interests. Really interesting class, and Prof. Schwarz is mysterious, but very intelligent and involved with cool stuff like Budhan Theatre and the Lanan Project.

The marxism and feminism and isms and heavy esoteric cultural stuff loaded in with the foggiest and highly dense and indecipherable short pieces given without much explanation, even that, I could live with. The total undulating awkwardness during the entire class and partly the lateness, I couldn't.

Weirdest english class I have ever taken - more like cultural studies than english. Readings are dense and confusing, but Prof. Schwarz is a cool guy and very flexible. Work load is kind of uneven and really picks up at the end of the semester.

Easy teacher but his readings are hard to work with and he expects the class to do a lot of the talking which leads to many awkward silences. Classes can seem like a waste of time. Extremely approachable and honest but not at all harsh. Cool guy overall.
