Europe in the 20th Century - by far the toughest class I had at GWU, but also amazingly insightful. He has incredible knowledge of the facts, but also puts them into context. Controls the classroom tightly, but I think that is a prof's right. Do not be late to class!

Most difficult class I had at GW. I'm in Law School now, and his class was very similar - lots of reading difficult material. You'll learn the material for his final, but this guy is old school. Also, he got booed at graduation (2004) when receiving an award

Give it a rest, whiners. This professor is brilliant. He does not excuse laziness or the usual vapid exam essay answers. He is strict in his control of the classroom. But you will learn. And that's the point, isn't it? Why else are you overpaying to attend GWU?

By far the hardest teacher I have ever come by, in any capacity, ever. He will give you obscene amounts of reading and terms that he expects you to remember. You MIGHT be able to get a B if you make yourself miserable -- no chance for an A. The guy is brilliant, but honestly, insane.

He is awful. He bogs you down with useless information, treats you as an inferior and is arrogant beyond belief. You'll try to memorize random facts and come out knowing no more than you did coming in. I'm sure it's impossible to get an A.

SO ARROGANT! but then, he DOES know EVERYTHING about European history... he just expects you to as well! 1800+ pages of assigned reading-the hardest course EVER. impossible exams, but awesome lectures. I learned/studied more than ever, but still got a C-

Hardest class at GW. Get the tests from the SA and compile a list of all the IDs and Essays. Study those and you will do well. Do not just study the material hardcore; you will only get a B at best that way. Most of the books are on FS exam list.
