Hardest professor I have ever had at the citadel. He grades your papers as if everyone is an English major. If you go by his office or email him you will get a smart/rude comment back. Very monotone and lectures the entire class. Do not take this professor. Try to find another professor or another course. Quizzes everyday. Hardest professor ever

He is a smart guy and tries to be helpful but his lectures are very boring and often pointless. He can talk for the entire class about 3 sentences from the book but the topic will rarely appear on the tests. He wants students to buy a lot of books only to talk about 2-5 parts. Gives reading quizzes every day.

He is very intelligent and the content of his lectures are interesting but the way he speaks makes it difficult to stay awake. I learned a lot in his class and i would recommend him to anyone taking ENGL 202.

Hutchisson is a really nice guy but thats about it. He grades unfairly putting more ephisis on grammer as opposed to subject matter. i worked very hard in the class and ended up with a low grade. It nothing personal against him but I would avoid.

I took his undergraduate class as a graduate student and was very impressed. Learned more in two weeks than I did in months with other professors. Its a shame anyone would sleep in his class - he makes the literature much more interesting with his vivid and clear lectures. He is also very clear about what he expects from his students.

Comment:
A lot of the students who complain are those who are sleeping in class. If you actively participate in the class discussions and don't alwwp in his class, he gives you a lot of leeway in his grading. I thought my essays weren't that good, but got all A's on them. I will definitely take him again.

Smart guy but if you have a hard time staying awak in class, this guy wont help. Talks monotonously and makes for a fast sleep. If you have NoDoz, however, and can stay awake and take notes, you should do fine.

One of the few high quality professors at The Citadel. Always willing to provide feedback and help with any questions/problems. Intelligent, laid back teaching style. Most enjoyable course in the grad program so far. Definitely not a hard grader--those who do badly simply don't do their work.

I don't know why people have bad things to say about this guy. He is a good teacher. He is much better than many in that dept. Take him for part of the Citadel experience. He will be famous one day, guaranteed.
