about half the class shows up, at the end of the semester it drops to literally a handful. no point in going to class if you just learn the material needed for the final paper. interesting & nice guy though.

Had ITG for transnat - tells lots of interesting stories that are unrelated (or barely related) to the course material. Difficult to follow his lectures, cancelled class a lot, grading seemed arbitrary. Worst prof I had in my first year.

Rambles on and on about the Continental Shelf and his consulting work in SE Asia. Usually I like when profs talk about their past work, but this was too much. His tangents make up more of the class than actually focusing on the material, and everything I learn in TransNat was from doing the readings myself for the paper.

I actually like his personality and he's a very interesting person but holy, his lectures are disorganized, rambling messes. Talks too fast and assumed everyone knows what the heck he's talking about when he goes off on his tangents. Going to class was rendered completely useless for both papers.

Rambles off topic all the time - thinks everyone does consulting in asia and knows as much as he does. most people in our class got NO comments on their papers whatsoever and couldn't even get their paper marks from him. he disappears when you ask for a marking scheme, on top of being unavailable and breaking appointments all the time.

Smart, well informed. Proves there is life beyond university, and the consulting work he does is fascinating. See if you can get an invite to his house parties - unbelieveable. Pay an interest in the class and you can get a lot out of it!

I stopped going to his class after the first month. The classes were boring. He missed too many classes. I think all I got from his class was everything about the law of the sea and absolutely nothing else!! just write the paper and skip the class!

Very interesting lectures with huge digressions about his own work and other stories. However, because of the format (one large paper) it is simple not to come to class. Very intelligent and passionate about int'l law - take this class and come as much as you can.

Charming and very bright, but not an effective teacher at all. He rambles on about the South China Sea, which was interesting but I didn't learn a thing about what international law really is. A shame because I'd really like to know! No need to go to class, but consulting with him on the essay is helpful. Wouldn't take him again.

It's an absolute pleasure to be in one of his classes. The man is so passionate and articulate about the subject that it's hard not to be completely drawn in. Extremely fair, objective and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

1 paper due at the end of the term. Although I like int. law, i rarely showed up to lectures, and was not forced to learn anything since I chose to write a paper. A useless class that you dont have to focus on until the last 3-4 weeks (or 10 days).

Frequently absent, left co-instructor to teach course. Did not keep to syllabus when he did show up. Omitted basic material and covered some material 3 times without realizing. Lectures so useless that about 80% of class stopped attending.

loves to hear himself speak. loves to talk about he south china sea. doesn't like students to ask questions or offer comments. don't think he actually reads any papers, but randomly gives out 72-75% instead.
