Professor Levy cares about his students learning how to write well. He gave a lot of work, however the real world expects nothing less than the best. I learned about reading from an outside perspective and getting rid of to be verbs. He is highly recommended.

If you want an easy "A" than do not take his classes. If you want to be challenged and actually REALLY learn than take his classes. Yes, he does give a lot of papers but he is very helpful and very clear about how to do them. Excellent professor!

This class was horribly irritating and difficult. Did not know this was a theme class, based on media ethics. Boring down to the last period. He questions too much on your paper, and makes you explain down to the nitty gritty. If you try to fight him, he becomes a smart arse and makes you feel beneath him. Also can someone burn his wardrobe? thanks

Worst professor I've ever had. although I passed but the in which he teaches is compltely dumb. He does not show us really how to write and says it's okay if we don't. He favored Latino Students over whites. Wrong Majorly Wrong.

...I ran out fo room in my last post. Levy will go out of his way for any student who wants to do well. The Mitty's Bar comment: Yes, but only on the last day of class after we all received our final grades. Oh, and he wears nice shoes. Where does he buy those amazing shirts?

Ira (or David as he goes by) will make you work, but you will learn; and I agree with the ast posting. If that other student failed it's was likely for not doing the work or doing a half-ass job. Levy said on the first day, "I'll give you tools and it's up to you how to use them." he also said, "Reach out to me, and I will be there." He Was!....

I strongly disagree with the last person. If you do your work, you will pass. He's a great teacher and helps those who want to help themselves. If you failed, it's because you didn't do your work.

I took Levy a few years ago and he favored students on the paper. If he disagrees with anything you say, ask, or wonder about he will fail you. Very unprofessional. He gave me an "F" and I am a hardworking "A"-"B" student. Then he asks students to go to the bar "Mitty's" after class.I retook the class with Professor Virgen and received an "A".

Levy was great. I actually missed a two weeks of class while I was figuring out some personal issues. Levy called my home and my cell to see if I was okay. WE met in his office and he worked with me to give me a second chance. I'm not one who puts 100% in school, but I'm trying. I owe that to Levy.

I only got a C, but that was mostly fault for taking on too much. I learned more than my grade shows. Levy was exceptionally helpful, and I agree with the last few students. He is tough, but you will learn. He is also very fair. Twice he granted me extensions becuae my workplace demanded my time. Thanks Levy!

Levy's Magazine Writing class felt like a professionally run writer's workshop. Exceptionally clear, practical, and informational. He brought in a guest speaker from Chicago magazine, encouraged us to publish our work, and brought his exp. into the classroom. We need more of this at Wright. What is so wrong with hard work? Hot? No, but very cute.

I have taken 3 classes with Ira. Forget the other rants against him, Levy says on Day 1 "If you want the easy A, take another professor." I guess many do, but I know I learned far more from Levy than I did in Bruckert's class. He met me on a Sunday, gave me his cell, and answered emails almost immediately, and I don't work on the paper.

Before taking his class, you have to keep in mind that he's a journalist, which is why most of his classes revolve around news and current events. He makes you do a lot of work, because journalism IS a lot of work. It's too bad all journalists aren't like him. If you have no interest in journalism, don't take his class.

as long as you show interest in the class, and turn in most of the writing assignments on time you will most definitely pass the course :-) its not that hard, you just have to get used to writing quite a lot.

Ira is a decent instructor; I had him for Eng 107 as well. He spent a large amount of time going over general ideas related to an upcoming assignment. During the course of this he may task you with smaller assignments each one just an addition to the last; ie one paragraph becomes two, etc. his flaw is if you become confused you must talk to him.
