Hated math before taking this class, and ended up kind of enjoying it. I did lots of practice problems from the textbook and went to tutoring a lot and that was extremely helpful. The tests are based on the previous ones that he puts online, so definitely look at those.

He went through the material very quickly but overall was a good teacher. You were graded on attendance, homework, and tests. Previous tests were released online and were VERY helpful to study. Griggs is a great guy and was very interactive. Make sure you pick an isle seat because its very small and you have assigned seats.

Great teacher to take for any class. His lectures are clear, and easy to understand if you can read his hand-writing. Anybody with a solid work ethic can pass this class, so don't worry.

Dr. Griggs is a great professor. His online lectures were very clear and very easy to understand. In addition, he made them interesting. Sometimes he can go on a slight tangent, but it is a nice break and the stories are usually relevant. Having already taken Calc2 with a different professor, Dr. Griggs was many, many times better.

His lectures are hard to follow and I guess he expected that you know it or seen it before which wasn't the case for most of us . His exams almost look like the practice exams that he gives on webassign so that's good to study off of. Please get a tutor you'll need one don't wait around . If you miss less then 3 classes final replaces worst grade.

Pretty fast paced, especially for class of 250. Ended up teaching myself the material. He does provide lots of resources - class notes, past tests, and videos of old lectures. 3 (out of 15) lowest hw grades and lowest test grade get dropped if you miss less than 3 classes

Griggs is a super awesome professor. He's very respectful of his students and treats them as adults. He wrote the textbook, so he obviously knows his stuff. His lectures are easily understandable, and he's always helpful during office hours. Honestly, he made Calculus II, the hardest of the calculus series, seem like a breeze.

Griggs is like a grandpa. He tells horrible jokes, but you laugh anyways. Make an effort to get to know him. It. Will. Help. I didn't have to study too hard for his tests but definitely review the practice problems in the textbook (he wrote it). He explains everything clearly and is available outside of class. Definitely one of my favorite profs

I took the Tue/Thu lectures and it was really fast past. Take mon/wed/fri instead. Their exams are shorter/easier and lectures are a lot smoother. Textbook? You don't need it. Just pay attention to the notes. No penalty on excess absences, but if you miss less than 3, final exam grade replaces lowest test grade. There are homework and quiz grades.

The best math professor in the university probably. If you attend lectures and pay attention, you will understand every thing probably. The tests are all similar to the ones in previous years and the final has the same questions as the tests during the semester.

He is hands down my favorite math professor ever. He is hilarious and makes the class as simple as as possible without throwing any curve balls. If you have to take MA 121 and you don't take it with J. Griggs you are doing yourself a huge disservice.

He is great at explaining concepts and teaches you exactly what you need to know on the tests--there are never any surprises. He posts practice tests that are very similar to the real tests that you will take.

Dr. Griggs was wonderful. He truly wants to help his students learn and is also quite funny. I went into this class with no prior Calculus experience and still did great. The practice tests Dr. Griggs posts online are very similar to the test so I definitely suggest taking a look at those. I would take Dr. Griggs' class again in a heartbeat.

Dr. Griggs is a great professor, this is coming from someone with no prior Calculus experience. The class was difficult for me, but it was simply because of the material. Dr. Griggs really tries to help his students out. He even drops the lowest test grade given you have under three absences! For the first time I feel like I truly understand math.

He is straight forward, and clear. I never had to ask questions and if you just watch the lectures and do the assignment , you can easily get a C+ If you actually put in effort and do practice problems then his class is a sure A. His final is a combination of the materials from past 4 exams. And he replaces lowest with final grade.

Explains the material well and gives access to practice tests beforehand that are exactly like the real test. Does not always stick to the syllabus, so don't rely on it to see what you missed.

I was skeptical about taking an online calculus 2 course but I went through with the online course and so far I have an A average! His lectures are very helpful and the practice tests are very similar to the actual tests. Watch and take notes on all the lectures, take notes on the textbook, and do the practice tests and you should get the A.
