Comment:
This man has no poker face, if he doesn't like what you've written you'll be able to tell right away. I think he has certain styles he likes more than others but if the class goes against him and likes somebody's work then he will allow you to convince him to like it too. He's tough, but if you're serious about writing then listen to him.

I have never had a bad teacher like him in my whole life. So arrogant, too egoistic, does not follow text books and it was hard to follow him in the class. Never going to take his classes again.

egotistical, impatient, moody but fair in most cases... if he thinks there are hopefuls in the class then he'll teach a little of what he knows, mostly in cryptic innuendo... if you're serious about writing then participate in the workshop (oh and did I mention check your ego at the door? there's only room enough for his own)

Sanderson is one the most inspired, helpful, and exceptionally talented professors at Lamar University. I suggest to anyone, to take a class, more clearly, every class you can from him. He is fair but firm, kind, and funny. Most enjoyable professor at Lamar University. You'll learn a great deal from him.

I took three or more classes. While he can be discouraging, he encouraged me. He began one of my critiques on a negative note, the class followed suit, but he told me later the story was very good. He said he was “experimenting”. If you take his workshops, be sure to write NOTHING personal. His classes can either make or break a writer.

What he teaches does not reflect on the test. When I took him, he mainly talked about cats having sex with eachother.

I really enjoyed these classes. This professor was helpful and knows so much about creative writing and literature. He is very philisophical, but students need to understand that philosophy, history and literature are all a part of one another.

horrible professor, all he talked about in this class was Calvinism, then wanted you to write an essay for the first test. didnt have anything to do with American Literature pieces.

I have his class now and I hate it. I can't understand him. He could explain things a lot easier if he tried to and took out some of the words!!!

This professor said that if you corrected students in class in front of him for asking a question already answered, he'd give you extra credit. He gave the other person a hard time. His tests were hard and lectures had little to do with what was tested. Was kinda pompus about being an author, too!

confusing lectures. 2 essay assignments. about 4 tests that are extremely difficult due to the wording of the questions. too hard to understand at times but if you like to think critically, he's a different one.
