You will be highly rewarded the more effort you put into this class. He was critically helpful to me in giving speeches. His class and lectures were suspenseful, insightful, and very entertaining. I highly recommend taking his class, its one of a kind.

Currently in class, His class was unclear and was unwilling to give me office hours. the assignments were all over the place and was very unfocused. very nice guy but was off track.

first day he made us write a report on the ACLU in which he "proudly shows a member ship card for" The busy work he makes you do does not pertain to class. Not understanding if he doesn't like you wouldn't give me office hrs. "you signed up for an acting class and you didn't even know it!" Public speaking is professional acting is not.

Jack was a great teacher who made a class that I wasn't really looking forward to taking interesting. He was very passionate about what he was teaching and did a good job at trying to get people involved.

Jack is the best professor I have taken at Bucks. He got the entire class to put them selves out in the open, and it was the only class at Bucks I bonded with. Somewhat tough grader, but has constructive criticism and is fair. Would highly recommend, and would just say put some time into speech preparation.

Jack Byer is one of the best professors that I've ever had, and I have had many. Just finishing my master's now. He will put the work in if you do. And although he's there to help, he will expect you to take care of yourself, stay organized, and keep up with the class. He will not baby you, but he love's hard workers. This guy can change your life.

must be well prepared for all speeches. gives a lot of work, but very manageable. teaches you a lot about public speaking. I got an A in the class, and thought it was an easy course to get through. he taped some of the speeches, but i thought that was cool so you could watch how you did while talking

Jack Byer is a very pleasant man. He takes great interest in his students and does not sugar coat his critiques. If you really want to learn how to speak in public, I would recommend Mr. Byer, because he's organized, clear in regards to assignments, and if you do the work he assigns it's a really easy class! If you fail, it's not because of Jack.

I liked him a lot as a person. He was very nice and I enjoyed speaking with him about books and movies. But I'm the type of person who likes structure and he was not very clear. I missed assignments because we hadn't talked about them in class it was just in the syllabus. He does give plenty of extra credit and if you try hard he will pass you.

Jack is a very nice professor but very unprofessional. He seeks more of a bonding relationship with students yet doesn't provide any real knowledge or help. If you want a pleasant conversation, he's fun but if you want to learn, I'd advise against him. Don't get me wrong, he's friendly but just not a good professor.

i've heard this teacher sucks. He records your speeches, he makes you do busy work and he makes you do a whole bunch of specific things when you give a speech, avoid this teacher, take JANUARY BAKER, thats who I took and I loved her. its worth coming in once a week for a night class.

Jack Byer is a great teacher. Seeing as the class was public speaking I was quite afraid to enter the class but he makes it much more comfortable than that of the other classes offered at BCCC.Prepare to work hard because especially in the beginning this class is no walk in the park. Three speeches are required. Tribute, Informative, & Persuasive.

Brought the class together & has sylibus outlining work. However, he is very forgetful& ofen forgets to write down grades in his book DON'T throw any of your papers or classwork away. Remind him to take tests on time, we didnt take a test on chap. 6,7,8,or 9 until we were on chap. 10 &he refused to tell us which chap. the test was on(guessing game)

Greatest teacher I've ever taken. Everything is spelled out in the syllabus which youll need for the whole semester. As long s you TURN IN the work, you can easily get a good grade. Speeches were easier than i thought and he is VERY fair. Highly reccommend!!

Comment:

The expectations for the student are clearly outlined in the syllabus, if you are willing to actually read it. It's your responsibility to make sure work is handed in on time. Jack doesn't always stay on track with the syllabus, but he puts the focus on the relational part of the class, which is what its all about. He is an outstanding teacher.
