Comment:

I enjoyed having Gaskins as a professor. He is a very sweet man, very patient, and he'll help you if you need it. He's a stickler for grammar/punctuation (awesome), so be careful. Just write your essays with the format guidelines he gives you, being sure to give support/detail, and you'll do just fine in this course!

He is a really nice and helpful person. Dr. Gaskins really wants to help all of his students. He makes an effort to help you with a paper if you're struggling. He is kind of boring in class, but he has some really funny moments. You don't used your book much, but he'll tell you when to bring it to class.

Wonderful teacher. He's not that exciting, but he has his moments where he can make the class laugh. Lots of papers, but you pretty much always get to pick the topic which is always nice. Very helpful and understanding. And he really trys to connect to his students. He knew how much I loved lighthouses so he gave me a lighthouse note pad! :)

Write lots of papers (it is an English class). Makes criteria clear. Sense of humor is there. Nice. Understanding. Good amount of time to write. IMO,I would take his class.

Very good teacher. One of the nicest teachers I have ever had. He is quiet, but he can be funny. Very personable and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend him.

Gaskins is a very kind person. He is extremely helpful and easy to approach. If you miss an assignment he is willing to work with you to make it up. If you have the chance take his class he really gives you a new perspective!! :)

Dr. Gaskins was very helpful when it came to questions regarding the assinged papers. He always offered assitance in brainstorming ideas, organizing the paper, and careful proofreading. However, it seemed as though sometimes it was hard for him to get his point across to the class about what he wanted us to do.

This class could have been more interesting, but it was at 9 in the morning so all of us just kind of let him talk and then he would tell us how to write the next paper and then we would leave. he was very helpful though and did seem to want to help the students. he grades really hard though.

I agree with the few others that said that they really didn't know their grade. I am having to retake this class because I got a B. I am a pre-med student and have A's in everything else. He is very smart, that is undeniable, but there is something that I don't understand about what he expects.

Very liberal, tries to push his thoughts and ideas on his students. Don't bother trying to disagree with him b/c he will hold it against you and let you know that you are wrong. I made a 30 on my ACT in English but he grades so hard that I didn't make a grade that was up to par with my ACT.

He hides behind a veil of humbility in order to guilt his listeners into sympathizing with his ideas as he subtely attempts to instill them in his students. He'll issue a nod of seeming neutrality after you have voiced a counter position to his own, he is nonetheless cataloguing them for future reference (ie- grade submission).

well..i probably would have enjoyed his class if I ever had an inkling as to what my grade was.. OOPS! Guess he forgot to tell me i BARELY had an "B"...don't worry..it ruined my 4.0. If you are a BAD writer, however, I am sure you will succeed in his class.

I absolutely loved Dr. Gaskin's class. He is definitely one of the nicest teachers I have ever met and he graded fairly easy. Be prepared to share your writing because he wants everyone to be acquainted. Regardless of this facet I would still take him again in a heartbeat.
