ONLY class I've ever FAILED in my whole educational career. No prior warning of failing. Monotone voice, completely/utterly irrelevant study guides (don't bother doing them), and no help for tests. Tests are EXTREMELY hard. Ask him a question and it will take at least 20 minutes of a roundabout answer & you won't even remember the ques. in the end.

Really intelligent guy, tends to take the long way around explaining something but if you do the readings and try you'll do fine. VERY forgiving about tests, gives you chances to retake them. Tends to drone sometimes, but if you pay attention it'll pay off with some really sharp humor. Not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it.

After four years at fitchburg state college, this is by far the worst class i've ever taken. Tough reading combined with lectures that don't help when it comes to tests. Homework is due every class and attendance is mandatory. Word of advice, don't take this class unless you have to.

A cute, kind old man very consistent about taking attendance, collecting homework, going over common problems on previous homework, and giving new notes with a new assignment. He gives you a 2nd chance on the 1st test, and bonus quizzes after the 2nd test. Very fair. Go to class and do the work and some memorization, and you'll be fine.

Comment:
You have to memorize things. This is a good class if you are an organized and logical person. You do have to attend EACH class for attendance, pass in hw, get hw assignment, and learn material. You don't need to buy textbook! He is always available in office hours, but is confusing when trying to clarify things.

Very good teacher. Knows his stuff. Tries hard to make sure that you are doing well. Is always available (by email or other means). Gives extra credit and remake of first test. Tries very hard to get things across but sometimes students are lost.

He is very intelligent, very willing to help, and funny in his own way. I truly learned, and enjoyed his class. Listen to what he tells you because he is very clear as to what you have to do to succeed. I got a 4.0, it was hard, but he helped!

He is a bit of a tough grader, in so far as his style. But, once you catch on to what he's looking for, it's perfectly easy to complete assignments. He is very helpful and friendly. Can be quite funny in lecture if you pay attention and have an IQ over 90. Plus, he likes The Princess Bride.

You people are idiots. Colbert is a wonderful old man who tells amusing anecdotes, and seems to love his subject. He has been doing this forever and knows what he's talking about. He's great with coming up with examples on the spot, and they are often funny. Gives very little homework, easy to manage. Ask him questions instead of badmouthing him!

I liked his class a lot, it was difficult material, but he went over it enough to make you understand. And he was always there during office hours and was willing to stay after class to answer questions. He is a bit boring at times - but a good prof.

I wont repeat everything that people said here, but i will agree with it ALL, WHOLE-HEARTEDLY!!! I swear, there were times where if i heard him say, "Any-who" one more time, i was gonna scream. There were times i just got up and left in the middle of his class. Blame my A.D.D. if you like, but this guy could make "watching the paint dry" somewhat exciting.

Tough, boring, monotone - but nice...Gave hand out w/ questions on 1st day - tests based on that...still hard...harsh grader. My answer was wrong so he put X X X X X - OUCH OUCH instead of something i might learn from...He's the only one who takes Political/Social Phil. - read sparknotes, write down the answers for the sheets as he gives them...

Avoid him at all costs. Not only are his lectures boring beyond belief, but he doesn't specify exactly what he wants from his students in terms of what they submit in their assignments. In the PHIL class I took, we had around 26 people. Only 8 remained in the end.
