Professor Hatch has a great personality, great sense of humor, very nice guy, respects his students and is diplomatic on the work load. It is an easy class if you do the readings and participate in the discussions. Take his class! I love him :)

The class can be boring but it is classical literature so that is to be expected. He's quirky and make you laugh every now and again. Several in class 10 min essays which are easy if you do the reading and 2 papers and 3 test. Everything is based off the reading and he is an easy grader if you give an answer that is remotely correct

Was dreading that I wouldn't be into Milton & that the instructor might praise Milton to the skies, but I not only understood the works but actually liked them & wanted to read more than what was assigned! His approach (humble?) was such that he got out of the way to let the text take the stage. He may be nice, but you have to read the texts.

Exams were very fair and he is a generous grader. He even modified exams in class if students had trouble! Those w/poor English skills or who didn't do the reading did not do well. Everyone else got As. I'd take him again at any time.

Without a doubt, THE best Hunter has to offer. All you have to do is do the reading and try to analyze the work a little bit on the exams and you will do fine. He is so easy in regards to what he is expecting. Mainly lecture format, but he's VERY engaging and interesting. TAKE THIS MAN'S CLASS!

I have had this professor before and have him again for English 338. I really enjoy this class. As long as you read your text then you wont be bored. How could you be? He engages his students in discussions and constantly questions us on our interpretation of the text. Whomever says they're bored is just coming to class unprepared and not reading. A+

Professor Hatch had very interesting class discussions. His classes were very insightful and I was able to learn a great deal. I highly reccomend him. He is a stickler when it comes to grammar but if you are an English major, it comes with the territory.

Professor Hatch is very bright and his class was great! We had great discussion about the readings, which helps you engage into literature at a higher level, and improve your writing style. If you are an English Lit major, you will get a lot out of his lectures. He is one of the best English Lit Professor I had at hunter.

He is not an easy professor but he is a very nice professor. You will def. fall asleep in this class so keep a recorder handy. However, there are not many requirements and you will learn a lot (when you stay awake.. )

Very nice man. Class is interesting and easy to follow if you do the reading. The texts are pre-18th c, so often the language is such that you can't skim it quick before class and get anything. He's not the best at facilitating discussion, which makes the class a little drier. Exams easy (passage id and 1-2 simple essays). Paper topics vague.

Well, the class is pretty easy if you show up and do the readings, he does not tolerate lazy people. Kinda boring but not all his fault, some of the material is boring as well. If you're an English major you'll do really well, if not, you'll have to try hard to keep up.

He is nice. He is knowledgeable. That only gets you so far. The man is DREADFULLY boring. He is a human Cliffs Notes. He'll basically summarize the writing and move on -- no interpretation, no class discussion. If you *HAVE* to take his class, you'll live, but if you can, take it with another professor.

Couldn't be a nicer man! Exams were difficult, but he's an easy grader. Also, he doesn't put students on the spot by making them read to the class or answer questions out loud if they don't want to. Good prof. Take his course before you take other upper level courses, the material you learn in here will be referenced to in many other classes.

He knows a lot about his subject and is interested in listening to students' opinions about the reading selections. His tests are hard but his grading is easy. If you have studied the material, it's fairly easy to get a good grade from him.

I took thid course in the summer, he's not a morning person(in a good way). The reading load and the tests were reasonable.If the class shows they dont understand something, he wont test you on it. good summer course.

Very nice individual. A regular kind of guy persona, as close as to someone with his intellect can be...look at the Hunter site and check out his credentials. He has an actual young, working intellectual personality. Do your work and read. Unfortunately, he seems to also have a sense of humor that he keeps hidden, which is too bad-sardonic, sharp!
