Comment:

The mating system colloquium is awesome - really interesting and fun if you get a good class that participates. Dr. Walker is super nice when he sees that students care and are taking part in class. The presentation sounds intimidating but it is easier than you think. Definitely take it with him. He cracks himself up.

Comment:

Dr. Walker is one of the best teachers I've had on this campus. While his class is pretty easy, you actually have to know the material. If you have taken human anatomy, you will have no problem with this class. I have learned a lot just from going to his lectures and studying very little. The lab is very interesting as well.

Good teacher. Tests come straight from the study guides that he sends out and tells you questions on the test for attending lecture. So attendance not necessary but still just makes it that much easier.

Dr. Walker is a good guy. if you don't go to class you will miss several questions on the test the lab was horrible! you must study i got a D in it and a B in lectures so I got a C overall! you must study! and if you missed a week before a test because of snow he will give you the test :)

Not an awful professor. Just have to study. The lab is what got me. A's in the lecture and C's in the lab. Ended up with a B which was very frustrating.

COMPARATIVE VERTEBRATE MORPHOLOGY Dr. Walker is a good teacher. Typical hilarious cool old dude. Reminds me of my grandpa. CVM is hard in that you have to put in a lot of study time, but it's all memorization. Very easy if you just put in the study time. I ended up with an A+

Dr. Walker is quite a character, but a fine prof. He's a little monotone, which is a little hard to focus on early in the morning, and he can get off on random tangents, but if you make an effort he'll recognize it and be very helpful. Go to class, take notes, follow the study guide, and study more than a day before a test and you'll do fine.

This class was horrible. I attended lectures and took notes and still struggled. It's extremely hard to follow along because he gets off topic so much during his lecture. He is not helpful at all and I would avoid taking this at all cost! Unless of course you have to, which I did, good luck!

This is the worst class I have ever taken... a very hard hit to the GPA. I studied far in advance but the test were impossible. They are very tricky and he uses other words on the test than he does in class. The class is the size of 600 and he does not use a microphone. He does let you come in 30 min early on test days. LAB IS HARD.

James Walker is selfish. He is not willing to help. The tests are poorly written. I am studious and usually have no problem getting good grades but James Walker does not want to see you succeed. He finds joy in seeing people in distress. I don't know WHY he still has a job. LAB is easy though and I had a wonderful TA.

I'm not sure how all these people think he is a good teacher because he isn't. He's a waste of time and money. He talks about useless thing 80% of the time he's not helpful when u go to receive help, he's quite rude. Dont waste your time taking this class! It's not worth it

I enjoyed Dr. Walker's class very much. Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory but he does offer a little bump in your grade if you make it to all of the random attendance checks. He is very helpful if you put the effort into going to talk to him. His exams were also straight from the study guides - a lot of info but not bad.

Dr. Walker, like most say, is old. He however does know his material. He may come off rude at first, he is very helpful though if you need it. He tells you exactly what is on the test, half the time he gives you the questions and answers, the only thing i found wrong with the class was lab. tests were not fair at all.

He may be a tad out of it, being so old, but he does know his stuff. I enjoyed the class, and it was very straightforward. You do need to study, though.
