Took her class in the Spring. Don't trust her reviews. She basically goes through slides in class which aren't posted online. Wouldn't be a problem but she rushes through them to the point were you can't write everything down. Everything you go over is on the tests. Study and they will still be very difficult. Show up to every class ready to write.

3 tests, 50 multiple choice on each. They're based off her lecture notes (not posted online) as well as the video assignments she assigns (there were 7 of them). She gives an extra credit opportunity at the end of the semester where you have to go to a museum & fill out a sheet. Not a bad choice if you're willing to come to class & take good notes

Comment:
The lectures are really stressful because there are slides that she does not put on blackboard. She wants you to write what she is saying meanwhile the slides are also important and she's speeds through them. In class assignments are given out you watch a movie and answer questions on it. She gives extra credit at the end and curves the tests.

Although I didnt really do well in her class, Swedell is a good professor. She is extremely passionate on what she teaches. Sure, her lectures are heavy and the exams are tough, she encourages you to pay attention well to the lectures and to look through the textbook if anything.

This class is very lecture heavy - you are tested almost entirely on lecture notes and important points that Professor Swedell makes during class. Despite this, if you show up, take notes, and study for the 3 exams (50 multiple choice each), you'll do fine. She is very passionate about what she teaches, and the material was relatively interesting.

She goes fast on her lectures, so it's really good to REACH OUTSIDE OF CLASS. After I did that, everything became really clear. Would recommend using a laptop because her lectures are fast, and you have to RELY MORE ON NOTES THAN TEXTBOOK. She doesn't go in depth with the textbook, so take good notes!

If it wasn't for her video assignments, I would have failed. Her lectures are hard to follow and she does not give her students enough time to focus on her power point presentations. She posts her review sheets for the exams late and it makes it near impossible to have enough time to study all of the material. I would avoid her.

ITS A TRAP!!! Despite her 4.0 rating, shes a pretty difficult teacher. 3 exams are worth 66% of your grade. She switches between 4 multiple choices to 5 multiple choices.......... and exams are extremely difficult. Even after attending every class I still managed to do bad on the exams. DO NOT TAKE IF YOURE NOT WILLING TO PUT IN WORK!!!!

Not an easy class. A bunch of notes. Tests make up most of your grade and are difficult and require a lot of studying. DO NOT SKIP CLASS YOU WILL REGRET IT. Besides that this class and Professor Swedell are pretty awesome. I was actually surprised on how interesting the lectures were. Take this class IF you are willing to put in the effort.

Prof. Swedell is a real live primatologist; works in Africa with baboons. You can see her picture on a banner at the entrance to Queens College. Her lectures are comepletely brathtaking. Take good notes and it is an easy A. You'll have 3 multiple choice exams based on lecture notes and that's about it.

Make sure to take good notes. The tests questions are hard but if you use the study guide she gives to study you will be fine. The extra credit assignment really helped my grade in the class. I barely used the textbook. Most of the test is based on her notes.

If you know how to take notes, you can actually survive without the textbook. She takes attendance every day and is HORRIBLE at answering emails. She doesn't let you take a test if you missed it without a good enough excuse, and once again, she doesn't read emails AT ALL. I should have dropped it when i had the chance.

I cant really say anything bad cause her extra credit made get a great grade in her class but her tests and notes SUCK! Her notes are pages long & barley informative. In order to know the questions on her tests you must write down every word she says. I wanted to cry before every test.. just study hard and do her museum extra credit and youl do ok

Anthro 102 with Prof. Swedell was the highlight of my week. It was a very interesting class, but it was also easy enough that there was minimal work involved. I studied for an hour or two the night before one of her tests and did fine. In fact, she only gives 3 tests the entire semester, and no final! No homework either, and extra credit available.

The class is simply amazing. one of the best classes you can have. The materials are interesting and the professor loves what she was doing. the exams are little bit hard so expect to study little bit, but just take notes in class and you are good. She also curve the tests and give extra credits.

Professor Swedell is an extremely professional, intelligent, hard working woman that makes time for her students to come in for extra help. She is very fair in terms of grading, giving a significant percentage to those that show up and do her in class assignments. She also gives a very generous extra credit at the end of the course.

Professor Swedell is really nice and she's always willing to help you by letting you come to office hours so you can check your tests and ask questions. Just take good notes and pay attention to the videos. I found this class to be quite interesting and the videos aren't boring. There are 3 exams in the semester and there are attendance sheets.
