In total you have to write 4 essays. She assigns short stories to read from the textbook that is required. but she pretty understanding of not having the book so she'll read them in class sometimes. she gives easy quizzes from the stories.

She's a funny and charming old lady. Your grades are mainly 3 600 word essays and easy quizzes, with no in-between workbook pages or anything. Quizzes are based off of reading passages in the textbook, so the textbooks are required. Overall, a easy and good professor and an enjoyable one to be around.

I regret taking the class. Worst professor of the semester. She grades essays very tough and isn't very helpful when you ask her to check over your essay. But, quizzes are very easy and she is funny/blunt.

Papers are short but she is a tough grader when it comes to grammar and is very helpful during office hours. Almost always lets class out at least 10 min early and gives fun lectures.

Janet Turk is a good professor. She is helpful and interesting. She is funny and blunt. Just today in class she asked a studen if they can ever get anywhere on time. Don't miss class or go late too much. Take her earliest class if you can because I feel that's when she is most lively. She's a hard grader, so work your hardest for the first essay

Will take Mrs. Turk again for American Lit. Even though I have decent grammar skills, this class was not easy. Writing is important to my major, so I am grateful to this professor for being a difficult grader. She pushes you to succeed. Grades aren't posted, but I probably made a high B, possibly an A. Cancels class frequently. Funny and nice.

Quizzes are not too hard but each cost you 10% off so be prepared. took her 1302 class at 12:30, she got tired at this time and so she went through everything really quick. She's a very hard grader.... i regret for taking this class because of all the positive comments here. Even though she is a nice person doesn't mean that she's a good professor

Excellent and funny teacher I loved this class. When you imagine a perfect 8:00 class this is it. She does grade a bit hard 3 point off for misused commas and errors. You will learn a lot that you didn't learn in your high school class so that's a plus. This class is not time consuming for ones schedule either because she doesn't give homework.

Mrs. Turk is an awesome teacher. I hate going to class but for some reason I was always excited about going to hers. She is funny and very understanding. She makes her students feel comfortable and relaxed.

Great Teacher. Very Helpful and her class is a lot of fun. She keeps telling funny stories about her children. Her quizzes are extremely easy. However, watch for grammar mistakes in your essays. You´ll have a guaranteed A as long as your paper is grammatically correct. Definitely recommend.

This is the BEST English TEACHER Lamar has to offer. She's funny, sarcastic, always talks about her children & will always refer to her daughter as "the reason they make blonde jokes." Sometimes she'll let you turn in your paper late.there are somedays on the syllabus when she'll just cancel class,& always lets us out early.Highly recommend

Hard... I loved writing, but she made it painful and made me hate grammar even more. she loves to check for grammer and that is what makes it hard to write a good paper...DO NOT take this teacher unless you are good at english

i took her in summer I. she tries to make the writing as painless as possible by giving you thesis statements. she hates the research paper and tries to make it easy. but she grades extremely hard on the essays. 3 pts for each grammar mistake. easy quizzes and tests though

Challenging class. Took her for Summer I. She takes 3 points off for ever grammar mistake. Her quizzes were easy however, the tests weren't the same as her review sheets. You def. have to put in some work to achieve anything above a C. She does enjoy her job and it shows. She is also a bit rough around the edges but is a nice lady. Very helpful.

I had Turk for Comp I, American Lit, and World Lit. I think those were the easiest classes I've ever taken. The quizzes were easy, and she kept lectures interesting with stories about her kids. And the best part is that her stories related to the ones we were reading.
