I returned to school at 40 years old. I thought I knew how to read but it was Bishop Hunt to really showed me what reading was. I was initially found his scholarship off putting but on my first visit to his office to discuss a paper found him the most approachable and intelligent man I had ever spoken with. The humanities need more like him.

Bishop Hunt was the finest professor I encountered in my college career. He coaxed us into a deep understanding of the greatest works of English lierature, and his skill at doing so was awe-inspiring. In working with him one-on-one, I found him to be gentle, patient, and full of character. His class was not easy--he's an old-fashioned professor--b

I LOVE Bish Hunt. He's absolutely brilliant and you want to remember everything he ever says. He went to Cambridge and Oxford; "passion" for Brit Lit doesn't come close. He really opens your eyes to the genius of the writers that would normally go unnoticed and unappreciated by amateur students like us. Plus, he's the sweetest man that ever lived.

What an intellegent man! Professor Hunt is incredibly worldly, and he has a great, genuine love for Brit Lit. I'm an English major, and I'm partial to American Lit, but I absolutely love hearing what he has to say. 2 Papers, 2 tests, final.

Dr. Hunt is one of the most brilliant people I've ever met in my life. Yes, he expects a LOT from his students, but if you're an English major you'll learn so much that it's worth all the hard work. He's such an asset to CofC.

Dr. Hunt is one of the most knowledgeable professors I have ever encountered. He expects a lot out of his students, but he is very helpful and understanding. I would not recommend taking his class if you do not plan on actually doing any work--not an easy A. If you like English you must take one of his classes.

Dr. Hunt is perhaps the best professor I've had. I took 202 with him my freshman year because I enjoy literature and I thought his class would be a good humanities credit. Loved 202 so much that I enrolled in 321 for the fun of it... and I'm a math major. Dr. Hunt is brilliant. If you get the chance, take a course from him. It's worth the work

Massive amounts of reading were assigned, however a quick sparknotes visit is all you need to get the idea. Only 2 papers were assigned and the second was optional. He's a great teacher. He knows his stuff, and you can learn alot from him. I wouldn't recommend him if you're not an English major though.

Mr. Hunt is a great professor. His essay topics aren't the easiest to write about, but if you stay a few minutes after class to ask questions he will talk with you about what he expects and discuss the readings. There are no quizzes and he doesn̢۪t care if you don̢۪t read. He'll change the due dates of the essays to fit the class schedule. He is extr

this man on many occasions told me that while my opinion on the poetry we were reading was interesting, they were (and i quote him here) "completely rediculous and wrong". isnt poetry open for interpretation? im an english major and im rethinking it if he'll be in my future. NO CREATIVE THINKING ALLOWED!

Prof. Hunt is a very nice man, but his class can be very hard. 6 documented papers and 2 in-class essays determine your grade. He is VERY precise in grading these, but really doesn't care about what you have to say. Spell check very good, and you'll make a good grade.

I'm torn on how to grade this professor. On one hand he is a really good teacher but he really expects a lot from his students. I wouldn't recommend taking this course unless you are an English major, because the level of detail he requires from your papers & tests is beyond what a student who's taking this as a humanities course is prepared to do.

Mr. Hunt is very passionate about what he teaches, and very eager to help us appreciate it. Although he can tend to ramble a bit, he's very kind. But he does expect you to do your part! Though his classes might not be the most unpredictable or exhilerating, they are informative and usually enjoyable.

His class isn't necessarily hard, just alot of writing. But its okay, because your only graded 5 papers and a final, no homework or anything, accept the required readings. But if you can't write a paper then you're probably out of luck. On a personal level though, mr. hunt is a very sweet and intelectual man and will alawys help you out if you need

I love Mr. Hunt. He's a great professor. The class is very challenging. I took it as a humanities, but I don't know if I would suggest doing that because the class does involve so much work. It's not that the material is overly challenging, it's just time consuming. Hunt is probably one of the most intelligent people you will ever meet.

I love this man... He is one of the smartest people I have ever met. Class is extremely boring, attendance is taken, but usually no homework other than writing papers. There are about 5 papers + an exam paper during the semester. If you write about what he wants, you'll get a good grade..it's not such a bad class, this is my second time taking him!

I LOVED his classes. Dr. Hunt is one of the smartest people you will ever meet! He will help you if you take time to be nice when you ask. He expects you to do your part and work hard. His high expectations made me work harder and appreciate my A's more. Take him if you really want to challenge yourself and read deeply!
