Professor Fodor gives no specific guidelines. Your only homework for the entire year is to read specific stories/poems. I participated and only missed twice and got a B- don't know how that happened considering I got a 18/20 on our only paper besides our final exam essays. Nice women and easy class but definitely would not take against

Comment:

One of the worst classes I've ever taken. Vague deadlines, unnecessary tangents, laughably easy...Overall a waste of time. You could skip for weeks and miss nothing. Definitely avoiding having her in the future. Can't believe I paid money to take that class.

Even though I took her for a Gen Ed, she was a fantastic teacher and really kept the class engaged. She was also a good mentor and was inspirational in my writing and my learning process.

I took Women Writers with her. Big mistake. Got an A-. I am very conscious of my GPA, so I was upset. I worked hard and was a good writer in her class. Yet some kids sat there right in front of her and texted on the phone the whole class. Distraction and disrespectful. I would have gotten an A if it were not for the group project.

LOVED HER!Janice is amazing FYS professor. Did minimal reading from the book. Was always there to help whenever you had a question or wasn't sure of something. Definitely recommend!

Janice is an incredibly kind woman - but she goes on tangents a lot. In that way, she reminds me of my grandmother (who was also once an educator) from approximately 15 years ago. She has a lot of knowledge, but often it's not shared when needed. However, if you show up, and at least make an attempt to pay attention, your grade will not be at risk.

Like the rest have said, English majors do NOT take this class. I'm currently in the class and cannot tell you the basic principles of Literary Study. Sometimes I forget what the class is actually about. I just know that I have to show up. She's an awesome person, but if you want to be challenged, this is not the class for you.

Fodor was real sweet, just like everyone says. However, if you're an English major who needs to have a comprehensive understanding of critical theory by the end of this course, STAY AWAY. This class was the biggest disappointment I've had since transferring to Elmhurst College. I learned nothing at all.

TAKE FODOR!!! She pretty cool! Easy class...1 5pg paper, 1 10 page paper, 1 group presentation, and 2 5 page papers for the final. She's probably one of the best english professors Ive taken. She's got interesting stories to tell..

If you don't care about english I recommend her because she is super easy and you will easily get an A. However, if, like myself, English is your major and you would like to actually learn something, DO NOT take her 220 class if you can avoid it. You will learn NOTHING and it will screw you over later on down the road. Complete waste of my time.
