No way in the entire world I would ever take this lady again. Once she couldn't stay for office hours because her kid was sick at home. She's like 100! And she's just freaking insane. Good luck sitting through one of her shaky horrible lectures. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Dr. Forster is a nice lady. Like others have said, though, the movies are old and out of context for most people. However, as far as the papers and write-ups... nothing is ever easy and it's done to help us learn. She has her problems, sure, but if you ask for help, she'll help you. When I needed her to understand issues at home, she did.

Nice teacher, a lot of work including papers, debate, and write-ups. Easy grader just do your work and get ahead on it since it is a lot. Always willing to clarify things if you don't understand. We watched a lot of films since she uses them to teach. She is awesome!

She is not actually hard, but if you follow directions exactly you should be able to get a good grade. Lots of movies, old boring movies, but you can only miss 4 classes before you have to do a ton of makeup work, so choose wisely the days you want off.

Dr Forster is a tough teacher but extremely helpful. The class is a lot of work and she can be a tough grader, but if you turn in the optional rough drafts and meet with her before the final draft is due, she will make corrections to help you get an A. Overall, a nice lady just very stuck in her ways.

Terrible class. Took this class to fulill a tag requirement and it ruined my winter break. 4 hours of listening to her could have been tolerated had i not have had to fulfill all of her ridiculous homework assignments. Visit a nursing home...really?!?

DON'T TAKE HER! This class ruined my entire winter break (I took it over J-Term). She makes you visit a nursing home and write a long paper on it, do a debate and write a reflection on it, endless write-ups on the chapters, and a never-ending final paper/exam. And she is feminist-the guys all got worse grades than the girls! Stay away if you can!!!

She is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She has no clue what she is talking about. She is extremely rude and singles out students. She tells you to do an assignment one way and then after you turn it in she grades you poorly and says that you did not do the assignment correctly. Avoid her.

Dr. Forster is ALWAYS willing to help you, she is very sweet. If you are doing a paper for her FOLLOW THE HANDBOOK if you are studying for a test FOLLOW THE BOOK. She likes detail in her papers, and everything she wants is outlined in the handbook, so pay attention to that-you DO need to study for her tests- Elmhurst is lucky to have her.

Her class isn't bad but she as a teacher is. She teaches a skewed view of sociology and uses a skewed book. I get the idea that she is a feminist. homework often, but it wont take longer than 30 mins. annoying projects, long papers and (unless you like social problems) dull classroom experience. She is helpful and will let you redo projects.

To reply to a previous comment, YES she does like to single out males. I think she lives too much in the past. She tries to stir up controversy among students. I will not take another one of her classes. I wish she would appreciate her students who DO work hard instead of examining their "exterior". She makes me feel terrible about being alive.

To all the comments about her appearance - um, since when is a college classroom a fashion runway? Who cares - the woman knows what she's talking about....Perhaps the majority of poor raters have just gotten on her bad side, because she's always been more than helpful with me. And her grading was no problem! Maybe ya'll just can't write. ;)
