The class is based on tests. They are extremely difficult. I feel like he looks down on students not doing well in his class. Be careful if you are a bad test taker and you are taking other difficult classes or have a job.

He says at the beginning that if you are not a good test taker, consider a different class. Man, was he right. The exams were extremely hard, especially if this is your first time seeing this type of material. Jay is an awesome teacher and makes you interested in the topic, but is super detailed on the exams. The class is only graded on exams.

Zoo is just an upper div Bio class. Anyone who whines about how hard it is obviously didn't put it the time. Jay is there as a resource, but ultimately it's up to you to learn the very difficult material. I was impressed by the class, but your entire grade is earned by 6 tests. Be prepared for that, bad testers out there.

Jay is a great, he is enthusiastic and really knows his stuff. He will like you if you show interest and ask questions. I never opened my textbook and still got an A by stdying my notes. people complain about the lab exams, but they are so straight-foreward! There is a lot of info but if you put in the time, you can get over 100%.

this class being taught is ok, his past quizzes and his two old testis are very hard and confusing to get the corrects a, b , c or d. Beside, the classroom is so awfuls dark. So are his hard to see notes on the black baords and his testis and quizzes as well.......good luck.....

Best teacher I have had at Chico State. When I was in high school I got a D in bio and I got above 100% in Bogiatto's class. He makes the class so interesting and fun and makes you love bio. Just always, always go to class, and ask lots of questions, and take VERY GOOD NOTES! When I got a good grade on a quiz he gave me the $110 textbook for free!

Jay is really great. I have always found his insight on subject matter to be wonderful, and he gets excited not only to teach but to help you learn. Whoever says he is discriminatory is full of crap-he has never put me down for being a female. If you don't care enought to try, then he won't waste his time on you-he will reserve his efforts for those of us who want to learn.

This i a ridiculously hard class. He really doesn;t respect you unless you're getting an A. He was so rude to me until he looked up my midterm score and then he was really nice. Field trips are fun and his weird sense of humor makes class interesting. But be prepared to study your ass off for his tests.
