The best professor at Akron. He is engaging, explains all the concepts very clearly, and makes class fun. He is not easy, and it is a long final exam, but his class is definitely worth taking.

Some people may say he's an egomaniac, but really, his goal is to make you a better lawyer (I'm not in the clinic). Everything he does is focused on that goal. He treats everyone with the utmost respect. The exam wasn't that tough. 4 hour hand written exam. I haven't hand written anything since high school, and it wasn't bad at all.

By far the best law school professor I have had. If you want to cruise through a class don't take him. If you want to learn the ins and outs of the criminal system from a practical, experienced point of view, ACJ with Carro is the best class you could take.

You aren't goint to get along if you have an attitude problem or if you don't do the work. Suck it up, remove the hat, and take advantage. He's forgotten more about criminal law than most attorneys will ever know. The best law professor I had (and no, I did not work in the clinic).

Professor Carro is one of the only professors that could keep my attention the entire class. At the end of the semester, studying for the final was easier since I felt I already knew the material from class. He requires all finals to be hand-written, but it wasn't too time restricting. Act professional, be prepared, and Carro will treat you well

This man knows his stuff. He is very knowledgable and a great prof. The people who have commented on Prof. Carro's ego are likely people who did poor in the class and are taking it out on him. He teaches you not only what the law is, but how to be a professional when practicing the law. Yes, that means you don't wear a baseball cap to court.

Amazing professor. Loves the topic. Loves student. Just a little scary/intimidating, but he makes you a better law student. Great movies & props to help you remember concepts. All around GREAT guy. Good use of the textbook. I never felt like my reading time was wasted.

Once said to me, "It's okay to be child-like, but it's not okay to be childish" just because I wore a baseball hat. I was a very good student and he never could get past the hat thing--always treated me like dirt. If it wasn't for his monstrous, abrasive ego, he'd be one of the best profs at the school. Instead, he's rightfully the most maligned

If you can get past the ego, the man does know what he's talking about. He makes you take your baseball hat off when you are inside, but good manners never hurt anyone.

Couldn't agree with ego comments any more. This guys really things he's something special, but he's not. Only the law clinic students can tolerate (not like) him, and he walks around telling students how to dress, how to act, etc. Makes Napolean look humble.

If you look up the word ego in the dictionary, you'll see the name Carro. His name is J. Dean Carro, but he has dropped the J so the students have to call him Dean. Arrogance isn't the half of it.
