You will understand this class better if you realize that he's not there to facilitate or optimize your learning, he is there to show how much more clever he is than you.

In other classes, particularly core classes in law, I got an outline in my head and then was either industrious in gathering details, which got me a good grade, or not. With this instructor, I was not really sure what was going on. I basically had to newly learn for the bar exam. He is an awful instructor and also does not help in office hours.

Someone mentioned below that he is very helpful. I went in to talk to him after getting a poor grade in the 1st semester. Not helpful at all. Went in circles. I got a better grade 2nd semester simply by figuring out what he wants. Figuring out his quirks and specific way of looking at things was not a talent that was useful in the real world.

There are instructors who are tough graders because they expect detailed knowledge and those who are tough because they are capricious. I think he's the latter. I agree with the ego thing mentioned below - so grossly disproportionate to his position as a teacher at an average college in Ohio as to be strange.

He knows the material, but his arrogance ego is way out of proportion. That does not seem to bother some people, but when it does (it bothered me) it turns the learning into grinding work because of your distaste for this guy.

Massive ego that interferes with teaching duties. I had a bit of trouble determining what exactly he wants in final - I thought I gave a straightforward answer to a clear question, but apparently not. I haven't had that trouble in other classes.

He is extremely helpful and concerned for the students. He was always willing to meet and try to explain any confusion with the materials- this attention helped my grade come up significantly between Civ Pro 1 & 2. One of the best professors at the school.

A great professor who cares about his students, gives a great lecture, and tells tons of funny stories. Civ pro is a tough class, but he regularly draws upon his legal practice with real world examples. I definitely recommend him for future classes.

This turned out to be an ok class but grading was nasty, just two papers, with little guidance what to do. Very ambiguous. I don't think the material covered was very well reflected in performance evaluation. My negotiations went very well, but that wasn't reflected in my grade. Akron is too harsh for grading , for such a odd course.

He is tough, but really excellent - his class is taught from real lawyering experience - I don't think is ego is so bad - it is well deserved - he's walked the walk you can just tell - I hope one day to be as good of an attorney. You learn civ pro and he does teach well. Fair but very tough.

Professor Anderson is tough, but fair. His extensive trial experience and knowledge of the Federal Court system is impressive. Yes, he does spend time on the nuances of the rules, and is a stickler for detail. But after taking his class, I became a lawyer. He was real tough on us, but in the second semester he relented and called us by our firs

Professor Anderson's "Paper Chase" ego is a little hard to take. He likes to make a straightforward topic harder than it is. I know many students learned from him. I resorted to "Sum and Substance" to get the basics. Professor Anderson's forte is exploring the nuances of the rules.
