Dr. Gerst is a great teacher. A lot of people don't like his classes because they are difficult and he expects a lot out of his students. Unlike a lot of teachers, you can tell he really gives a darn. My favorite teacher at NDSU for sure.

He is a brilliant guy, but likes to go on tangents in class a bit more than I like. Uses lots of unique analogies and stories. PRS is pretty cool too. Tests are tough, but if you put some work into it a B is totally achievable in this class.

No words can describe him... he's a smart man, just not a good people person, therefore making him a horrible professor. His focus and contribution to the school is his research, and nothing else matters to him.

Once you understand his teaching style, class is ok. You have to do a lot of outside studying with the book, but this is college, so that's expected. The material is not spoon-fed to students. Overall, he's a funny man to listen to, and at least he makes lecture entertaining.

He is a very hard teacher to understand... if you don't read the book and actually study. But if you are a good little student, then you probably won't have any problems. He puts humor into his work. Yet, I think he is hard because he uses a lot of terminology that most human being do not know. If you've got him, STUDY!!!

If you aren't a science background student he doesn't care about you. Go somewhere else and take a class that transfers for these two. He can't write test questions and he goes off on more tangents than you will find in a geometry class.

Very smart fellow. I learned more in two semesters in his class than probably the rest of my classes combined. If you want to be spoon fed material I would suggest taking a different class but if you want to take some responsibility for your own education-knock yourself out-GREAT CLASS!!!

Very tough teacher with a different teaching style. He writes extremely hard exams and is very hard to follow in class as he jumps around from subject to subject quite a bit. If you are taking his class, I suggest you be ready or you will be in for a RUDE awakening.

the class is hard, but you really learn the material if you put your time in. He is hard to follow in class at times, but he rarely tests on info from class. He just lecures on the basics and additional info. You NEED to read the book, but then tests aren't too bad if you know it.
