A lot of people talk about how he is a terrible professor but that is not accurate. Most people have issues because they do not do the reading. If you simply do the reading then you will pass this class easily with an A. He is very caring, knows his stuff, and if you have any problem just speak to him. He really wants to help.

He is a teacher with a lot of Pro's and Con's. He works for NASA so he is not good at simplifying topics. The homework is not a lot of questions, but takes at least 2 hours to finish if you understand it. I would get a chegg account to help you with his homework. The final is optional and the class is heavily curved to everyones benefit.

He's a fairly good professor but his lectures can be pretty high echelon. Sometimes it's hard for him to simplify concepts more. Does more concepts than math on the quizzes, doesn't do tests, (quizzes instead), gives lots of chances for extra credit. Not the most clear professor but not too difficult either.

Does not know how to teach. If you can get a different teacher for the course, I suggest you do. The only reason I did well was because I had taken physics in high school. He would write long complex notes and just read them to the class. Lectures were completely unhelpful, yet you had to go because we took a quiz every class period.

He means really well but he does research with NASA so he hasn't taught much recently. Tried really hard to do the "interactive teaching" but homework could definitely be improved. Very willing to work with students about grades- he posted his calculated section grades and updated his spreadsheets if students found any errors. Confusing lectures.

Hilarious, willing to make adjustments to the class to help student and accommodate students requests. However, he's explanation on math problems are confusing. Should solve math step-by-step with students by hands instead of just showing us the work he had done. I had to basically teach myself. He's a great guy but not a great teacher.

He's a nice guy, who wants his students to succeed. But unfortunately he's not a very good teacher. His lecture notes & sample problems were rife with errors, making them useless. His method of writing out long, complicated problems ahead of class, putting them on the screen, and then reading them aloud was not helpful at all. Avoid if you can.

He's a funny guy and genuinely wants to help but his lectures are hard to follow. I wish he would've solve the problems step-by-step with us instead of showing us the math he had already done and the final answer. In-class assignments are redundant because we have online homework anyway, should save more time for lecture and explanations.

Comment:
This professor was very unhelpful, his HW and tests were ridiculously difficult and depended largely upon how quickly you could work a problem, then, upon coming to an incorrect answer, rework it until you realized you'd made some mundane algebraic mistake. Labs were completely irrelevant to the course.

I also had Manweiler for PHSX 211. Class is difficult. He doesn't help. Neither do the lectures. Get a group of people together at the begining of class and study together/do homework together. Test are hard, but not impossible. Homework takes forever and is very tedious.

I scored better on the tests not going to class. It is far easier to learn the material on your own if you have the discipline. The tests and homework are rehashed year after year, and the lectures are not directly relevant the majority of the time.

The material is hard enough, but he has to make it twice as hard. There are always a couple of almost impossible problems in the tests and HW's take forever. It will hardly get any worse than this in any engineering class.

Otherwise known as "Baldy". You're better off just never going to class, and learning on your own. I got an A.

Comment:
The final was in Wescoe, and Dr. Manweiler's 211 and his 212 sections were in the same room. Manweiler walks in and proceeds, with no tact whatsoever, to insult the entire room's intelligence. This was par for the course. Avoid this man at all costs.
