Yes, she is nice & funny but she is tough bc the lectures r completely in Italian. I got an A- bc I'm naturally good in the subject- if ur struggling, don't take her! Class starts easy & approachable, but soon everything is thrown at u bc she's slow & must catch up. Treats u like a baby w/going to the bathroom- must give ur phone to her

Despite the many negative remarks I've heard about her, Professor Robbins is one of the best foreign language professors I've ever taken. I don't believe I've ever gotten an A in a language until I took this class. As long as you do all of the work and language lab that's expected, you're sure to pass. Don't be lazy and put your phone on silent!

Comment:

Professor is an easy going person, but is a tough grader. She expects homework for every class but does not give feedback to help you the student understand the material. The homework is challenging, in which you need to seek out a tutor. She speaks to you like a child if you ask her for help. Limited office time, 30 minutes. Exams are tough!!!!!!!

Worst professor I have ever had! She is unorganized, rude, and not helpful. She is not understanding to situations. Does not use blackboard so you dont even know your grade. Made students buy a $70 program halfway through the semester that we used only a handful of times. She wonders why the class does so bad but never questions her teaching!!!

Brutal, brutal, brutal. Class starts approachable and easy, but quickly ramps up in difficulty and becomes a struggle. I don't mind a challenge (my major is full of them) but this is a 100-level general requirement. I don't have time to sink hours and hours on par with my major's 300/400 level courses into this.

Don't take her!!!!!!!! i survived because i put A lot of work into it. she is funny and gives you good reviews on what will be on the test but is HORRIBLE! at talking in Italian and explanations. LAST RESORT

Professor Robbins was very helpful, considering I had no interest prior to taking this course. It took me some time to catch on but she was very patient with me and even offered one on one time. Since then, ive found a new passion for the language and culture. The course is tough but professor Robbins always has an answer- you just need to ask.

im taking this proff right now she is awful she treats you like your 7 when you need to use the bathroom she makes you leave your cellphone on her desk. she dosent even teach at all..all she does it repeats verbs 24/7 i don't know where they got this lady from but she shouldnt be teaching! i cant believe i paid for this =[

She is a dedicated, wonderful teacher who cares about her students. Some people are just taking the course for a requirement and are annoyed because they have to work. That makes it unpleasant for those of us who want to learn.

I had this Professor for 101 and 102. She gets progressively worse with time. I received B's both my semesters but she isn't lenient and doesn't give you any credit for trying even when you give your best. She wrote down my grades wrong and when I asked her to correct them she said she wouldn't change them. Ruined my GPA. DONT DO IT TO YOURSELF!

She was sarcastic, boring and a waste of my money. If you want to learn Italian, it'd be faster to just crack open the text book and do it yourself. You'd get more out of than taking her class. In fact, by taking her class, you'll become unmotivated to learn Italian. WORST. TEACHER. EVER.

Class destroyed my 4.0 GPA. Does not make sense that a general requirement, 100-level course ends up being one of the hardest I'll ever take. Language classes require the best teachers. She isn't even average.

Has an attendance policy that is stricter than what the rest of the college follows. Brutal midterm/final. Doesn't like writing on the board, 'hurts her arm.' Her notes are incomprehensible messes. Believes herself to be far younger than she really is. Don't take Italian at John Jay, she's the only teacher. Unreasonably hard.
