He cares about the material and teaches so that students can follow him during lectures. He does not rush and stops for students to answer questions that he asks the class, which is good. Tests are average difficulty--if you do the practice tests and study the labs thoroughly, you should be fine.

This was the Organic Lab. He gave lectures and then helped w/ the labs. His lectures were fine, but his tests were extremely hard (and over both lecture notes + lab stuff), and the wording was sometimes a bit confusing. However, he knows what he's doing and stayed after class for about 20 minutes to chat about some interesting theory - that's good!

Dr. Chickos is very nice, but beware which TA you get for lab. My TA made lab miserable. There are 2 tests in the class. Memorize everything you did in lab and you'll be fine on the tests. You should attend the lecture, but I did fine in the class skipping most lectures.

Does not explain concepts very well at all. Very unclear and hard to follow. Expects you to know how to do problems without showing you how. Reluctant to help. Gets aggravated when asked questions. Would not recommend!

Lectures are boring, but he puts powerpoints up on the internet. lecures arent required to attend, but its important to show up to labs and discussion. Quizes are straight from homework problems. Tests are alot easier than what you would expect with the complicated material covered. Im not a big fan of chemistry, so i hated the class

His lectures are done in powerpoint and posted at the beginning of each week. He is somewhat hard to follow during lecture. Discussion is taught by Ta's and easier to learn from. Labs are easy and you get credit for the attempt, even if you end up with the wrong answer. Overall I found his class a bit boring and difficult to follow.

One of the best lab instructors I've had -did a good job explaining important material and gave us old exams to help us prepare for the midterm & final. He does grade on a curve so even if you do really well on all of the labs, you won't be able to get an A without doing well on the exams (or at least better than most of the class).

Dr. Chickos comes off as being very easygoing and helpful. Overall, I found his course interesting and did well, but others did not do as well. He grades on the curve (something he did not disclose in his initial syllabus), so many of those who thought they did well in his lab only received Bs and Cs. Needs clearer grading system.

Decent Prof. Used powerpoint way too much. Tests were fair(mainly multiple choice) and he curved the overall grades quite a bit. I hardly even went to class and got in A. Lecture was a waste. I recommend studying on your own and just show up on test day. Find someone's old test b/c he likes to reuse a lot of questions from them.

Decent professor, uses powerpoint presentations in his lecture. His tests were were straightforward and fair. He likes to use Excel to do the math but after requests for him to show his work he ended up doing it all on the board. He's a fairly interesting prof. though sometimes unclear as leaves out important connecting concepts from time to time.

What he taught, what was done in the labs, and what was taught by the TA in workshop were ALL DIFFERENT. made it very hard to determine what we were even learning and what would be on the test.
