Dr. Rhodes is incredible. I never liked history until I took this class. He knows his stuff really well and makes it very interesting. This is one of my favorite classes I have ever taken at SEMO.

Comment:

Only two in class tests (Mid-Term and Final), both are written and based off lectures. Assignments all online: 300 words essays, forums, and quizzes. 1-2 assignments per week. DON'T BUY THE TEXTBOOK! Quizzes are all online in past Quizlets and that's the only reason you need the textbook.

Comment:

This is an OPEN notes course. He talks about how he would cue when something would be or not be on the test (which was a lie). He talked very fast and does not slow down and allow you to take great notes. The Midterm and Final were graded very hard and cover a lot of material. Unless you were in World War II, you will have trouble.

Comment:

Mad respect for Dr. Rhodes. If you actually want to learn about history, take his class. Make sure you go to all of his lectures because he will give you the questions to the exams in class (plus his lectures are crazy good). Wouldn't recommend getting the textbook, as the answers to quizzes are very hard to find, even if you read the chapter.

This guy is awesome. Absolutely the BEST professor I have ever had. Dr. Rhodes makes history interesting (crazy right?). He is hilarious and a very entertaining speaker. I would recommend recording his lectures because he will tell you the questions on the mid-term and final and give you the answers to them as well. Go to class+ take notes A

Dr. Rhodes is a great teacher. There are online quizzes every other week that you have 24 hrs to complete. The quizzes are straight from the reading. There are also forums and short answer questions weekly. There are no tests only a midterm and final; both are wholly based on the lectures. If you want to succeed go to class!

Comment:

Dr. Rhodes is a real storyteller. Everything on the midterm and final is discussed in the lectures, and he even hints at specific questions sometimes. He is so funny, but you probably shouldn't fall asleep or be on your phone in class or he will embarrass you. As long as you have someone to take good notes for you, it's okay to miss a few lectures.

Professor Rhodes puts so much enthusiasm and love into his lectures and he makes it very enjoyable! Attendance is mandatory for him, but if you don't come to class you will miss his great lectures (which he gives the exact answers for the test)

The class is laid out before hand. Attendance is not mandatory but if you want to pass the class go to class. He will give hints on assignments and the midterm and final. He says to read the book but it is not necessary.

I normally hate history but this man changed my mind. I loved having him as a teacher and would 10/10 recommend him to others. I wish I had other history classes to take just so I could have him as a teacher agin!

I am not a history person but I really enjoyed this class. His lectures were very informative, but also interesting. It's a lot of writing, especially on the midterm and final, but there are no in class tests other than those two. It was a 100 person class so I didn't get to know him personally, but he seems like really cool guy.

You have to go to pretty much every lecture. The stuff on the test is based exactly from the lecture. He makes the lectures interesting, and you can tell he puts a lot of time into it. He's overall a good teacher, and I would take him again.

Easily one of the best teachers I've ever had; he's very enthusiastic about what he does, and it shows. There are weekly writing assignments but aren't too hard if you attend class to get the information. Attend lectures when he tells you too, it will cover material for the midterm and final.

Best History Lectures!! Two test Midterm and Final; short answers and essay, based soley on lecture. Quizzes 20 questions onlin based on textbook; theyre kind of difficult. He lets you retake but it gives you 20 diff questions each time. Short essay(multimedia) or forum due every week. You have to do your work to get good grade and attend class

This has been my favorite professor at semo. I looked forward to going to class. Although he does lecture, they are interesting to listen too. The work out side helps with the final. No busy work, only work that will help you improve. I would take him again
