Comment:

Bartle is always entertaining, funny and direct; his "Russian" laughter is nothing short of hilarious. He's very knowledgeable and accessible, but he strongly objects to frequent absences (even if they're excused). If you're an athlete, you'll have to work much harder to make it up to him. In general, though, he's relaxed and understanding.

john bartle is absolutely fantastic. class is nothing but discussion, and he makes everyone valued, steers to some startling discussions, and makes you laugh all the way. utica, russia, and nebraska (who knew he was from there?) blend together to give this smoking, mustachioed godly professor. You can't go wrong with Prof. Bartle.

John is extremely personable, helpful, and kind. He is always thoughtful and his comments show a lot of insight. If you are at Hamilton and have any interest whatsoever in Russian language, literature, or culture, then you have to take a class with him.
