I have taken Dr. Courtney for both ENG 101 and ENG 103. Dr. Courtney is clear on what is expected in her class but lacks many other qualities that make a good prof. The way she lays out the class is disorganized. She has a sarcastic personality that often comes off as rude. Don't bother asking questions if you don't want a hasty response.

She is very nice, but extremely clustered. Every class something is due. No weekends because you have to read 4 articles by the same author. I have yet to get my grade for my first paper I turned in almost a month ago. Very unorganized but I have to say the class is simple.

I really didn't care for her at all. She was not helpful when I asked questions, she just expected you to know. She also was super slow at grading, and didn't return my papers till after the next one was already turned in, so I couldnt even see what I needed to fix or work on. She wasn't friendly and oh! If you have conservative views don't bother

Honestly, Courtney is my favorite professor so far. She has a slightly hard sense of humor to follow, but overall I find that fun. She's a hard grader, but is very clear with what she wants. Class discussions are only boring if people don't contribute. Her interests in literature are quite relevant to modern times. So yeah, take her.

Very hard teacher, but explains what she expects clearly. I love the subjects she uses and how she trys to make you think. Think about everything. I am not a strong writer and struggle in this class. She help me and was willing to do so when ask. Not the worst teacher in the world just one that will make you work a little harder.

I'm at a university now, but I think Dr. KCL is awful, needs to be fired, and is biased toward wanting people to have conservative views. I got an A once from using TERRIBLE purple prose in a paper. What a joke! So what that she teaches at NIU? She's not that good. Benham. He was good. His teaching helps me get As at U of I.

I took this class thinking it would be a great experience, i was so wrong. She was very difficult to work with. I had heard she was a tough grader and that she was. I don't believe she even glanced at our papers it seemed as though she graded based on who the student was. She got papers back very late as well. DON'T TAKE HER!!

Dr. Karen is a nice person, but I didn?t care for her as a teacher. Her time management in the class was AWFUL. Everything was jammed into the last half of the semester. VERY difficult on grading. I had always gotten As in English, and couldn?t pull off an A in here no matter how hard I tried. Unrealistic deadlines and overall just a big headache.

Seeing comments about her, I am assuming the people who have rated her were not attending class or did not do well in English classes. I felt that she was very fair, sarcastic, but willing to help those that wanted to be helped. If you can't get an A in her class, study, or take a remedial English.

This professor was rather annoying. She treats the class like they are preschoolers. Constantly speaks in an arrogant and condescending tone. A classmate and I were among the highest grades in the class and still got a B+, aside from spending over 30 hours per paper As are not really attainable.

She's very quirky and funny. It's very difficult to get an A on a paper, though. You have to write quickly and devote a lot of time to it. Probably not good to take her if English isn't your strong point.

I didn't really like her, she is a very tough grader and horrible about getting your work back to you. She also didn't space the work very well. We did all of the papers and projects after the midterm...it was hectic. I also learn absolutely nothing in her class.
