He has 3 papers as well as a short (1 page) paragraph about each of the plays. He also has you sign up to be a "discussion leader" where you have to come prepared with a question pertaining to the play to ask the class, but really he just lectures for the hour and encourages the "leaders" to voice their opinion.

Professor Curran is a saint. This class had 4 papers and some response paragraphs that made up the majority of the grade. No tests in this class and he grades very fair on the papers. As long as you dont mind writing longer papers, and have a beating heart in class, you will do well. The guy is quirky, made ENGL class very very interesting.

Great Professor. Needed the course for credit and his class was a pleasant surprise. Humorous, intelligent lecturer. Had no intention of attending consistently, but he made me want to go. I never understood his grading system with papers (3), but on ones I tried I did fine. The exams are straight forward. Read, show-up to class, and you're set.

Passionate. I took two of his courses to get the credits, made material uninteresting to me bearable for the semester. Brings unique and interesting perspectives on the authors. Extends office hours when papers are due. If you put effort in on the papers and in class he seems to account for it and grades fairly. Will not forget him, great guy.

Three short papers and then a long term paper; I really only read the stories I chose to write about, everything else he covers in lecture. Lectures are 100% of class content. Dr. Curran is very passionate about his subject, and if you're interested in the subject you'll enjoy his class.

Mr. Curran is extremely passionate about his profession and often goes into tangents and really deep into novels, which many times you become lost. Many novels are incorporated into his class and the course requires two papers and two exams. He also expects in class participation, therefor attendance is mandatory.

An extremely entertaining professor, classes are interesting but it is a full lecture so can get boring. His expectations for the class are fair in terms of work and papers. The grading can be a little tough if you don't have a similar style of writing as his, but overall a fantastic professor I would highly recommend.

Great professor! Brings energy+enthusiasm to every class, and always finds a way to keep things interesting. Generally 3 papers,2 minor indiv presentations, and a final paper. Always willing to meet with you if you have questions, and his grading is fair. Show up, make an occasional comment, and put a little time/thought into papers and you're set.

This class is for those who want an easy A. If that is your goal take Curran, if you want a challenge probably not the best prof. to take. Stale ideas, old school, don't expect social engagement or cutting edge ideas. Can learn more from Introducing Shakespeare book for eleven dollars.

A great guy,he brings passion to the classroom every day.You can tell he loves the text and gain an appreciation for it even if you're not a fan.His grading on essays is tough but fair and he senses when a good effort was put forth. Show up,he tells you what quotes will be on his exams+ he's more generous grading wise to those who attend regularly.

Curran took Shakespeare and made it interesting for me! I use to hate it, but after taking his class I really appreciate Shakespeare. He is a very interesting guy and class was rarely boring. There are a couple of papers and a couple tests, but they were not difficult if you attended class. Because of this class I made him my advisor.

He grades with variability so you might not end up with the grade you want. He is very passionate about his class. He is an overall nice guy who is very helpful, but you may not know how you are really doing in his class. I recommend him if you want a good English discussion class, but may not end up with the grade you want. He's fair.
