He is a great professor and I consider him an even terrific mentor. He is genuinely interested in his student's work, and I personally remain indebted to his helpful and supportive guidance throughout my time at UNO, and even after graduation. Dr. John Hazlett has been my advisor for BAIS major and professor for the Model UN class. He is the most charming and student-caring person on campus. He has become one of the most important persons of my undergraduate career. And yeah, if you are on his listserv,never disregard the emails that he sends to you, they might change your life forever.

He is an outstanding professor. Not only that he challenges you to think in class, but also helps you a lot in his office hours. Most importantly, he cares that you succeed and takes times to give you constructive response on your work. I wish he teaches all the classes that i have to take.

Dr. Hazlett is an amazing professor and advisor. Taking this class was one of the right decisions I made. He is always concerned with the progress you made in the class and encourages you to strive for the best. As an advisor for my internship, he encouraged me to build more contacts and helped me a lot. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant man. I felt like I was at Harvard in his Am. Lit class. He is absolutely a joy..his mind is amazing. Very engaging. Forces you to think outside the box. I wish every teacher was just like him.

I had him for an advisor and as the faculty member for my internship. I would not recommend him simply because he doesn't seem to care that much. I would reply to his emails and never receive a response. His advising is done by an assistant so you may be a senior being advised by a sophomore. Attempting to change my major and be away from him!

I third the response to never take his online course. I'm almost certain he's recycling the 2000-level survey material from his 4000-level in-depth courses. He has a completely unrealistic expectation of the amount of material to be covered in-depth for a survey as opposed to the broad overview a survey course should have.

I fell in love with Dr. Hazlett. I wish I could express how much his praise means to me. He is so passionate, enthusiastic, intelligent, learned, and incredibly kind. I remain fully attentive to his every word during class. He is by no means pretentious. I love him!
