I learned more from him than all 4 years in high school. He gets off topic a lot so he can be hard to follow sometimes but everything he says is funny. You will start by writing a simple paper on what he tells you too. pay attention and take notes and it will be easy. After that he teaches something new to add to each paper. My favorite teacher.

LOVED this class so worth taking. Just a warning, he does have a foul mouth & can be very blunt & straight-forward, but so worth taking. All you do during class is talk then he will assign a paper that you have a few weeks to write, but always your choice what to write about.

John does not teach at all. You show up and he talks for a while. Than he assigns papers. I turned in my first paper and he complained that it wasn't what he wanted and talk down to me about how he didn't like it. I didn't know what he wanted because he never actually taught. His class is a waste of time!

You use the textbook maybe 3 times in the semester. You have to show up or you will quickly fail. The class seems confusing at first but pay attention and it all starts to come together. He will make you a writer if you try, if not you end up wondering how you got a C. You have to show progression in thought and skill. One of my favorite classes.

If you are good at writing papers, you'll do fine in this class. But if English is second language for you, just like me, you are going to have some hard time with him, because he doesnt teach anything and you are basically writing papers based on what you know about writing. No book is required, and you are going to write max. of 8 papers.

Mr. Huxhold was super funny and easy-going, but at times I'd get antsy listening to him tell stories all of class without really making a point. Still a really great class - the best Eng 101 teacher I've had after trying 3x before and finding it unbearable.

Literally the funniest and best teacher I've had at this school. Holds students accountable and even made an 8am an absolute joy. No busy work and only about 8 papers. Not bad at all. Highly recommended, coming from a lazy student

I took Fiction as an internet course. It was listed as writing intensive, and boy was it. I have never written so much in my life. No instruction whatsoever. If you are a strong writer, it could be a good class. If not, find another class. You had to post all the time on Discussion Board, plus read tons, plus do essay exams. All online--work!

This teacher is very easy but i found his teaching to not be very helpful. He used minimal examples and at one point had three papers i was working on because he wasn't clear and had two to redo and one new one. Not recommended for those who have trouble with writing.

i don't know why everyone likes this guy. i didn't think he was that great of a teacher. he lectures about nothing and still makes you come to class, makes you subscribe to newsweek and keep 'journals' on it every week, thinks he's funny and he isn't, wouldn't recomend taking his class in the spring. it's hard going to his class when it's nice out.
