Comment:
(Business Honors) Norton makes an evening class enjoyable, plain and simple. He doesn't fluff anything up and is straightforward and interesting during his lectures. At times, the multiple different projects that are unrelated to the exams can seem time-wasting, but if done well, are easy grade boosters. Tough class, easy grader, nice teacher.

Norton is a beast, plain and simple. His lectures can get boring at times but thats bc the material is just so dull. His dry humor makes up for it though, and he lets you out early 90% of the time. The Excel and Access projects could get tedious and frustrating at times, so just get started in advance. Easily the best ISTM 210 professor at TAMU.

Overall, I had a positive experience with Prof. Norton. If you are an active learner, you might not enjoy him as much because he lectures A LOT. I enjoyed doing the Microsoft Excel and Access projects most. Sometimes, the guidelines aren't clear for these projects, but I learned a lot from just testing and trying different things out!

Comment:
Norton is definitely caring and is willing to help on projects, however, his tests have nearly nothing to do with what is taught in class. If you use the notecards in the back of the textbook/posted online, you should be fine. Some questions on the test seem kind of random or out of nowhere, but overall the class was enjoyable and I learned a lot.

Comment:
Lectures can be dull and not helpful for the tests, but Norton cares and makes himself available for any questions. He is a big believer in figuring things out yourself, which can make some of the Excel and Access assignments and projects frustrating. Overall, if you read, study concepts, and put effort into assignments, you should be good.

Do yourself a favor and read the textbook and study vocab. Lectures won't help you much (I spent most of them on Facebook) but, sometimes he takes attendance/offers extra credit. Norton is a sweet guy and always willing to help on projects. The first test was a wake up call, but after that, I was good! Actually put time and effort into this class

This class starts off as a blow off but the first test hit me. It was possible to recover my grade, but be aware that you will have to put in the work. When people did poorly on the first test, he totally changed how he taught the class. His lectures improved and got much more relatable. I've never had a teacher do that for his students. Take him!

If you enjoy listening to someone drone about a subject completely unrelated to the class material for hours on end, by all means take Norton. The tests were a mix of 8 FR and 7 MC (for the honors section) and his grading seemed to be very inconsistent. Although he purposely made the final easy, I wouldn't recommend this professor.

Class was very boring, but Norton knows what he is teaching and is willing to help out. The homework/project assignments are unclear at times, but he grades them pretty fairly. Also, tests are straight from the book mostly over big picture concepts. If you study and memorize the learning objectives and targets then the tests should go well.

The class was very boring. Even though attendance isn't mandatory, he would frequently do RF Responder quizzes to keep people coming. The class isn't too difficult, but his projects could be quite tedious. If you fall asleep easily, you may want to avoid Norton.

lectures are extremely painful and Boring beyond belief. He thinks very highly of himself- must be that baylor education. Not helpfull. tests are fairly easy-straight out of book. as for the projects- subjectivity-better luck if you're a girl. the only reason people show up to class is to get credit for the cps questions. get him outta a&m

Mr. Norton is a great professor but i agree with the previous comment that going to class wasn't always necessary. And also like the other comment the test can be really tricky even if you do know the material. The key to the class is making sure you do well on your database project.

You don't have to go to class, but unfortunately if you do go to every class like I did, it really won't affect your grade. The tests are a little tricky even if you know the material, but hey....he's a nice guy and looks just like Superman (no joke)!
