John is probably the most down-to-earth professor at St. Mary's. That, along with his formidable intelligence, humor, and passion for what he does, makes him a real gem. My only critique is that he won't make you read/care, so you get out what you put in, and this also lets the quality of students determine the quality of discussion classes.

John is one of the best professor's i have ever had. if i could i would take every class with him. he's extremely knowledgeable and connects well with the class. i HIGHly recommend going to class slightly not sober.

I had him for my first year seminar, Film and Philosophy. It was so disappointing. The class was dead silent for the most part. He knows his stuff, but you need enough energy every class to actually sit there and listen to what he is saying. We did not spend much time at all on anything other than Buddhism, so the papers were a bit difficult.

mind-blowingly hot. very laid-back, easygoing, and slick, but also extremely intellegent and knowledgeable about subject(s). several times has allowed dogs in our class! setbacks: hottness can be distracting from subject matter.

Fun teacher, very open minded and interesting to learn from. He encourages discussion and loves to hear student's opinions. Not terribly easy, but not so difficult. I wrote a story for my final paper and did very well, so he's up for anything

Awesome guy. When you go to a bar, hes the kind of guy you want to end up sitting next to and drinking with. He's very helpful and enthusiastic but if you don't do the work he will be a little aggrivated. Who can blame him. Take at least one clas with this Prof he rules!

Easy class. Little lecture, mostly discussion. Schroeder is one of the coolest and laid-back guys in the world. A must if you want a philosophy class.
