Comment:

One of the smartest people I have ever met. He is so intelligent and clearly cares a lot about the subject. He will put you on the spot and is not afraid to tell you if you got the answer wrong, but you always leave the class feeling smarter then when you walked in. Overall a great teacher if you're looking to actually learn about a subject.

This guy has gotten a bad reputation on this site. He is so informative and my mind is blown every class. He is a genius but everyone finds him to be boring. Just don't cross him and if you're interested in history and in what he has to say, tell him and he'll really appreciate it and will talk to you at his office. Oh and tests are open notes.

If you dont like being picked on brutally dont take this class. He grades hard and uses every opportunity to make you look dumb. Lectures all period and you write a paper every week. DONT TAKE.

This man is a genius. If you came to college for grades pick a different class but if you came for an education, he is perfect. He has so much knowledge to share. Who cares if he puts you on the spot? He cares about education and I have benefitted so much from him. He gives out B/B+'s but if you visit him in office hours he will bump your grade up.

I almost left his classroom crying. He randomly picks students to ask questions and will not hesitate to make you feel like an idiot if you don't know the answer. I got a B/B+ on every paper regardless of my effort. Doesn't answer emails. Don't even bother keeping the syllabus- was at least a full month behind by the end of the semester.

Comment:

White is a very smart man and that is what makes his class very difficult. He can be very hard to relate to, he is also a very tough grader (rarely gives A's). If you have a passion for history, he is definitely the professor you want, otherwise I would recommend seeking another option from my experience in his class.

He knows pretty much everything there is to know. But can put you on the spot and shames you if you don't know the answer. But it doesn't really matter. No tests, and weekly 2-page essays. Average grader, won't give you an A, though, because he doesn't consider anything perfection. Boring lectures in class. But it's an easy class to get through.

A really good teacher. He is really interesting if you actually listen. Cares what you have to say and is clear when answering questions! assigns a 2 page paper every week but its mostly all opinion.

originally thought he was an awful teacher and found out he wasn't bad at all. no tests, one 2 pg paper per week on previous week'ls lesson, not hard at all. as long as you are opinionated and participate you will do fine.

Terrible Professor. He lectures in monotone all class every class. Goes on tangents that don't relate to the subject matter whatsoever and degrades you when he asks you question's that Caesar himself wouldn't know the answer to. Don't take his class. Ever.

Amazing professor, very intelligent. You can tell from his teaching that he has a passion in what he teaches. Tries to get students involved in current events and convey the importance of this involvement, unfortunately not many take this advice. Got me very interested in history again and blew away my previous conceptions of it as memorization.

Professor White is one of the most intelligent professors i have had at marist. He has proven they one should learn more from college then just how to memorize text, we should rather learn about life and how to think. he is an inspiration and kinda like a grandpa figure. He has basically taught the entire liberal arts faculty how to teach.

nice old man, kinda. means well but something in the crse has to change. theres no structure. syllabus was few weeks late. he sometimes goes off on tangents w/ his answers. very knowledgable, it seems but sometimes doesnt answer the questions asked. unfortunately,I feel like its a waste of time.

This man cannot teach. He gave us the syllabus the fourth week, in which he followed none of it. 2 4 page essays and one 10 page essay plus a final. Got a B, B+, and a B+ on all assignments and still got a C+ in the class. He doesn't check e-mail or have any clue what hes doing AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
